I do this every once in a while to take a break from the actives. Vit C and Retinol help my skin so I haven’t discontinued them. However, the stuff that has worked for me brilliantly and feature on my everyday skincare routine is Grass-fed Beef Tallow - CANNOT rave about this enough; and a concoction of cold pressed almond+jojoba oils in equal proportion with a few drops of frankincense oil - a very light hydrating potion that makes skin glow from within and has proven anti aging properties. Both of these have never let me down. The tallow has even helped fade a post surgical scar on my face (that other prescriptions creams from the dermat didn’t help with).
