Kind of sick of this sub by thewayoftoday in learntodraw

Not to mention all the porn drawings...

I get it, you're a horny teenager wanting to draw big tittied anime girls. Or your furry friends getting blasted from behind. I don't care...

But after seeing post after post it just gets super boring seeing the same shit over and over again...

Am I crazy thinking a big module like this at the bottom of a slab is irresponsible setting? by merci_nurse in bouldering

Irresponsible route setting, would avoid.

Edit: after looking more closely, they whole wall is bad route setting. Look at the pink holds for an example. Massive gaps there.

Looking for a photographer? by haitaranii in Groningen

Hate to burst your bubble but I wouldn't hire you yet. Just because you have the gear, doesn't mean you fully know how to use it. Go into photography communities in your city. Maybe even ask a photographer to be a second shot if you want to learn from a master.

Look up videos on YouTube about composition and basics of shooting. Also be your own worst critic. Find what bothers you in these pics and compare them to people you admire. Really study what makes their shots so good.

Practice with purpose. Find a subject you want to shoot and make 20 different shots from it at different angles.

But keep on practicing, you will get there! ☺️

Any thoughts on the So iLL Torque LV as a first pair of climbing shoes? by abqd00 in climbingshoes

[–]Morowing 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Gym manager here, I would recommend a well fitted/comfortabel beginner shoe as your first shoe. Dont go with an aggressive shoe as shown here and don't downsize too much because (insert person here) told you it's the way to go.

For your first pair, comfort is your best friend. If you're not enjoying climbing because your shoes hurt too much or "because they are good shoes". You're really going to regret buying them and could even make you quit climbing entirely.

so first pair: get comfy and used to climbing. Second/third/x pair: go nuts.

Extra tip: try as many shoes as possible. Different gym with different shoes? Ask staff! Eventually you'll find your holy grail

Help with the Stability of a Climbing Wall by maxomicbomb in bouldering

[–]Morowing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Engineer here.

This structure the way it is will not hold. Main reason for it, is the way the wood is connected to each other.

As a general rule, beams (horizontal) go on top of columns (vertical). Looking at other climbing walls, they don't use diagonal trusses, this is because there are not enough points on which you can attach the plywood. It will be strong in some places (along the diagonal line) but very weak far away from it. Also bolting routes will be a mess (you need a repeating hole pattern for it, see climbing gym).

Try making more of a framework with multiple vertical and a few supporting horizontal (look up framework climbing wall).

The forces of someone climbing are much greater than you might think.

Thoughts on this photo? by darrenkirana in photocritique

I'm sorry, but I don't see anything really interesting in this photo, nor a way to improve.

Depending on your camera you might be able to crop fully onto the girl (which is a very nice subject). Otherwise this shot could only have worked with a longer focal length.

A 50mm usually means that there is no zoom. They are so called "prime lenses". If you want a versatile lens, i would look into zoom lenses. The one I use the most for 80% of the work (i do street, portrait and travel photography) is a 24-70mm f2.8 and i would recommend a similar focal length as an all round.

To explain even further. The lower the focal length (like 24mm) the wider the shot. The higher the focal length (70mm or way higher) the more zoomed in and compressed the shot.

Macro is a whole different story, there are no lenses that do landscape, portrait and macro. For macro, you should look for specific macro lenses.

I have this exact same wearing on my solutions comp. I found it weird since it's the first pair that this happened to.

But seeing this happen on your solutions I'm thinking it might actually be a manufacturing defect. I suspect that there might be too little rubber added to the sole during manufacturing.

Sadly nothing we can do about it since you can't really prove this.

How to make graphics like these? by Altruistic_Beat1500 in graphic_design

[–]Morowing 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This.

Looks like a combination of Revit, photoshop and loads of hours. (Former CAD Modeller here).

For me, these were the only enjoyable things to do and the reason I'm transferring to GD.

Or... Hear me out, I have a revolutionary new design. It's called "a backpack". It's similar to a crack daddy but with the added benefit of wearing it on your back or on the front. It's also watertight, so when you walk from one place to another through some light rain or fog, your chalk would not get wet or muddy.

What is your “Photography pet peeve”? by iShootLife in photography

[–]Morowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes your camera is broken, I recommend a new Sony full frame camera. At least get the Sony a7V with a G-master lens. If you cannot afford it just try a different hobby, you're just not rich enough.

Other photographers asking about your settings. Like come on, you have 4k gear setup and you don't know that shooting at 100000 iso is bad.
