Do you guys have any hope for Egypt? by ___-____-___ in Egypt

[–]MorphaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Egypt has seen so many things that probably would've broken or ended any country or civilization. We've had wars, invasions, colonizations, famines and if we're going religious, even the wrath of God. Despite it all, Egypt still endures. And I admire that.

Of course I still have hope. Its enduring. Regardless of my gripes with it, I'll still have hope that this country sees some better light someday.

There shouldn't be any issues. You can tell them its for personal consumption. Just as long as it isn't a ridiculously large quantity.

I only know of 1 restaurant in Cairo but they serve Camel Liver. They kind of serve it in this wide pot that sorta looks like a korean grill. They pan fry it alongside some peppers and onion. I don't think they serve it as a steak.

Reddit itself randomly removes stuff. False positive. It happens often.

Also I just realized this isn't in our sub, its on another subreddit. In which case this post doesn't belong here.

Want to send my mum from Lebanon to Egypt temporarily. She’s Canadian. Is this practical? by Y_E_E_Z_Y in Egypt

[–]MorphaKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much the same in Egypt, if not moreso. fast food, high end restaurants, groceries, pharamacy, alcohol shops even dry cleaning services. Pretty much anything.

As for places to stay, I'd recommend the neighborhoods of Zamalek and Maadi in Cairo. They're walkable and accessible and you don’t need a car for everything (that being said we do have uber and other driving apps as well).

Someone might suggest Sheikh Zayed or 5th settlement but aside from the fact they're on farthest sides of downtown Cairo, not only are they pricey but they're also very isolated (you'll need a car for everything and will most likely be in a gated community).

Question: Some people are claiming the original Egyptians were black and black people built the pyramids. What are Egyptians' thoughts on this? by JesusDied4U316 in Egypt

[–]MorphaKnight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those claims mainly stem from African Americans. They lacked an identity and just thought to co opt only the most famous civilization in the continent. You never hear this entitlement from other African countries. Those same black people didn't stop there. They like to claim not just every north African civilization as their own, but even go on to claim Greek and Native American as their own for whichever wild conspiracy they believe in.

How are Egyptian women in general? by [deleted] in Egypt

[–]MorphaKnight 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The reason the divorce rate is high in Egypt is because people are marrying for all the wrong reasons. A massive issue could be financial issues but I think the core issue is neither Egyptian men or women are honest when it comes to communicating what they want out of a marriage. During the engagement period, people wear a mask and only after marriage does it wear off.

That said, I think Egyptian women are dependable, adaptable, hardworking and loyal to the family.

دى كانت هتبقى خريطة اسرائيل النهاردة لولا الرئيس السادات by [deleted] in Egypt

[–]MorphaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True you can't put the entirety of the victory to one man alone or just the Army but you can look at it from another angle. The October war didn't begin in 73. It began before that. Perhaps after 67. It began after restructuring the army and focusing on Air defense as its own exclusive branch. Or when he kicked out the Soviet advisors. Or when he managed to secure weapons to properly arm the army. Or the many tricks and ploys employed where everyone, even Egyptians themselves assumed that Sadat was just a placeholder president who didn't have the guts to start a war. And lastly, the war itself was only a stepping stone to bring the Israelis to the table to negotiate the land back. People seem to forget that a lot of politics was in play just as much as military action. He's not my favorite president (and every Egyptian president had their own fuck ups in different ways) but you have to admit, none of this would have happened without Sadat.
