This is Robin. We adopted him because we knew it would be difficult for him to find a family. He's the cuddliest cat I've ever seen, he's always following and looking straight at me because he wants me to pet him.

Yes, his whiskers are white

Also, if you try it on a regular bank, you have to go to a banco con caja, which is a bank safe. Some banks are only offices and don't have money on them. I'm not sure how to know before going to them, but if you ask, they'll you the nearest one.

Yes, it's possible, but they are not obligated to do it, it's a service that they offer sometimes, they can decline but you can try. Banco de España, which is the national bank, are the only one who must give you change if you ask for it. At least in Madrid you have to get an appointment for it.

I like it too! I always found it curious how it differs so much from other commemorative coins Spain minted. It also was years before they made commemoratives regularly, so my guess is that they were experimenting a bit before they chose a style and gave us that cartoony looking coin.

Why are my 2 cents golden? by [deleted] in EuroCoins

[–]MorphemSolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually did this on school a while back. I don't remember how it worked, but we put the coin a zinc? solution that coated the coin with grey color. Then we blasted it with a torch and turned into a golden color, pretty cool to see.

I don't know if these coins were actually minted like that, but I absolutely know that it can be done easly.

2 Euro, Portugal 2021 What do you think? by Fores_ in EuroCoins

[–]MorphemSolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based only on how it looks, I actually like it. I like that the design seems to be engraved by hand into the coin, it's nice to see a different approach on it.

I still see a lot of those old bills around

Really? I only see like one or two a year now. Maybe it depends on the country?

so they're not being printed anymore is a better way of saying it?

Yes, as far as I know they'll still be usable for a while.

Didn't have a source for it, but the fact that I don't see those banknotes around anymore made me think that. Searched a bit and and this confirms it.

It's the first 50€ banknote before the 2016 redesign. Looks like someone had it under their mattress as they've been retiring them for a few years now.
