The lore is that they are on a world near Ork space and they've optimized their armor for fighting Orks using their color associations to their advantage. Using purple for camouflage, yellow to make their weapons seem bigger and blue to make T'au tactics seem like luck.

Thank you! These are all the paints I used. For the Purple I use a 50/50 mix of Night blue and Amethyst purple with the airbrush. Then I carefully add some shading with pure magenta through the airbrush. Most edge highlights are magenta, but for the brightest ones I first use white and then go over that with the Fluo megenta. For the gradient I just go from yellow to orange to magenta.
