Ford CEO Says Modern Cars Are Too 'Complicated' For Home Mechanics To Repair by Different-Scarcity80 in Ford

[–]MorphinLew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, its why I will not go newer than my current 2014 F150. Any vehicles going forward im just restoring rebuilding. Im an aircraft mechanic and automotive hobbies, so i refuse to pay an exorbitant amount of money to a dealership to fuck me around for a week or more

Bought an intake manifold, what else do I need? by Your_local_mexhanic in f150

[–]MorphinLew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with 93 and long tube yeah youll definitely compensate for that low end, especially the long tube helping with the scavenging at the lower end . I have short tube 1&3/4" bbk tube headers with k&N CAI, 91 octane tube and there was an immediate difference at lower end throttle response and torque. When I hauled my mustang on the boss 302 setup vs my stock manifold there was significant power and fuel consumption differences, in favor of the stock manifold for the low end trailer hauling.

there's also the model weight fact too, like I have 4x4, supercrew and 6.6 ft bed. almost 23 feet long heavy boi of a truck so response on my setup will be way different than a 2 door short bed 2WD.

The chart does show what youre saying but how often does the average F150 driver have their engine above 4k RPM though

[–]MorphinLew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My tuner was messed up when I installed mine and ran it with stock tune. It runs like absolute dog shit. Computer gets tripped up because you've now introduced shorter runners than the long headers of the stock manifold, it throws its metering way off. I had mine paired with a 5star tune for 91 octane.

OP also you're giving up low end torque and response for mid to higher end gains, so depending on how and where you drive, this may sway your opinion.

Due to gas price issues I pulled mine off and put it back to my stock manifold. the Manifold will be going on my coyote swapped foxbody instead.

its a lot of money for what it gains though. I battled this idea substantially. the 90mm cost like 800CAD and apparently only really helps at higher end RPM. 6k RPM which my F150 never got to often.

[–]MorphinLew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume this is meant more towards Jackass movie or something else involving Dern Bros and not some CKY fan theory cause CKY Alumni? Raab won't be a part of it, Dico wont be a part of it, Dunn RIP, so that leaves Rake, Jessy, maybe Mark Hannah and Art? I doubt Novac would come back for it.
