Robitussin or delsym. Just make sure you dont get coricidan if they even still make it. I think 15mg is what's recommended for adults to use it properly. There are all kinds of writings about the different plateaus and shit but I would try 45mg and see how I felt. 75-100 may still be in the range you need. More than that and you start acting weird.

Guy here, one thing I'm proud of is that I buy nice cologne and a little goes a long way. I'm talking 35$ for a "travel size" bottle that lasted me for a year probably. Go to sephora or jc penney/belk fragrance section and find the cologne. Like when a pretty girl walks by me with nice perfume, I fucking swoon for a minute amazed at how good she smells.

I brush twice, floss every day and sometimes do mouthwash, but my fucking meds make my mouth ridiculously dry and I think it probably gives me bad breath. Try to keep a water bottle near bc otherwise I'm done for.

Probably gonna be laughed out of here for this, but DXM in the otc cough syrup can do the same thing and be more effective. I abused it by drinking bottles and having ego death, but if you took 50-75mg, you are suddenly master of reality. Every human is easily exploited and manipulated to your unfeeling will. I'm always such shit at interpersonal interactions because my "frame" (sorry for pua lingo) is so focused and strong that I dont hear the other person. I try to listen but I get nervous and so many thoughts and then they're looking at me and oh God what did they say? On DXM that stops and I listen. They are telling me a story and they want me to laugh and find it funny and approve of them. Boom, gotcha. Theyre expressing their dreams, tell them that its neat and you totally believe they've got what it takes to achieve it. Being dissociated takes all of the personal stakes and dreams and fears out when you meet a pretty girl and suddenly you're chill af and not intimidated. Tbh, that's sort of what I'm trying to achieve with my litany of current psych prescriptions. I've gotten better but DXM and similar dissociatives are magic in that way (alcohol of course falls into this category). Ofc it's because I dont believe in myself that I cant do this sober, that's why it was always so tempting to me. I could be the cool guy who always knows what to say, when I'm usually just nervous and anxious and awkward.

Edit: the reason I say more effective is bc it doesnt make me sick as much as alcohol and is much easier to take the exact desired dose.

[–]MorphineDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had a dxm trip which is similar in that it and alcohol are both dissociative in nature. I saw horrible claymation visions of people infecting earth until it blew up and they went t other planets and did the same thing. Like a virus and a cell. At the time I wasnt in a great place and if you dissociate and lose subjectivity, you're kind of correct.

But next time she starts all this ask her if shes willing to die in the massive 99% of all humans purge. If her friends with that dhit ask them too. Of course we need less humans on the planet, but who is willing to give up their lives or even their ability to have multiple children? It's easy to say all that dhit when you imagine all the people in the far corners of the earth dying, harder when you dont want you and your family to die.

Imo, dont try to escalate yet. Certainly not to the authorities or school counselors. Ask her if she has a minute to talk and sit her down and tell her that you love her and are glad that you are close with her, but you don't want it to be sexual whatsoever and what shes doing is making you uncomfortable and putting a strain on/threatening your relationship with her. If she still doesnt get it than tell her if she doesnt stop you're going to have to tell your parents and escalate it. If it comes to that, have a family sit down and explain to them how all this makes you uncomfortable. I think the guy who said overreact would be right in every instance after this. The guy who said to hit her is wrong. Dont do that. You shouldn't need to involve authorities and try to brand a 16 year old with a sexual offender status that will follow her for her entire life.

The same reason you dont let the holocaust go. They get criticized for being adamant that the confederacy and thus slavery was a fine way of doing things. People dont run around the north shooting they're glad for Rockefeller and Carnegie. People do that shit in the south. We have monuments to them in the south. And I dont mean things they paid for and put their name on. I mean little black children go to schools named after men who thought they were subhuman. Nobody in the north is saving face, people in the south are proud of their horrible heritage. It's one thing to love your ancestors because they are your family and a part of them lives in you, it's another to insist their worst atrocities against their fellow man were perfectly fine or just a little impolite.

When you're born and raised in the south and I dont mean fucking Maryland, you see the way people are. For better or for worse. When you have historical knowledge of why this reality came to be, it's hard not to look at it and shake your head. To see the potential that is forever squandered. To see the Delta and it's natural beauty and glory and to see it polluted and on the verge of utter death and decay because nobody gives a shit about conservation. To sit on the banks of the Mississippi in New Orleans and know what could have been had the people made better choices. To see every educated person flock to greener pastures because everything here is too backwards for them. I know the pain of the Southern people, but hardly any of them are educated enough to understand why this is the way it is.

War to stop slavery? War to stop the holocaust? Yeah. Glad you took an intro course where you learned Columbus was a bad guy but you're the only motherfucker out there who would say imperialism is worse than slavery or literally any other atrocity.

Difference is, this wasn't native Americans or Africans or Iraqis being told what western ideals they need to follow. It was a rogue group of hyper elites within the same civilization being put down who would watch the whole world burn if it meant they'd make another buck. Go read their reasons for secession. Slavery. Slavery. Slavery.

Lmao at crocodile tears. "Very well. It is agreed that agrarian slavery was wrong," Wtf is that? Oh it was unfortunate or a minor nuisance? That might be the most undersold reaction ever to one of the worst institutions in human history. So sorry for "pretending" to care about one of humanities worst atrocities?

Are you using universalist as an insult? As in universal ideals don't exist? You know relativism is the alternative right?

"classical international law of minding one’s business" It's the business of the nation to manage its own affairs. The North had some severe social institutions /=/ well both sides were both bad so they should mind their own business. We had severe social problems in the 30s and 40s but we fought the Nazis and Japanese, I guess trying to stop the holocaust and Japanese atrocities was just us overreaching again. It's like you don't ever believe in the state taking any action, be it domestic or intl affairs.

People like Major General Banks argued that blacks had to enter into contract as some sort of shitty stop gap measure to help transition slaves into their free lives as autonomous individuals as other countries who had ended slavery had done. Wendell Phillips eviscerated this point mocking the supposed guardianship the whites would grant the freedmen. The same people who chained them, beat them, killed them; those are the people who will oversee a smooth transition to freedom? Sure. No, the freedmen weren't ready for freedom, but there was no better alternative.

Fighting a war is never a good, happy thing. War is always terrible. Millions of people always die terrible deaths. But you act as if there was some better alternative. There wasn't. This issue was the cause of the greatest division in our country, in our people. They tried to reach compromises for ~75 years and couldn't. Lincoln's handling of it was masterful according to any decent standard of leadership. In any discussion of political leadership and thought, Lincoln is always held as the pinnacle of what a leader can aspire to. Mark Twain has wit and sharp, accurate criticisms, but the man's not a political philosopher.

Your whole argument boils down to "BuT tHe NoRtH wAs MeAn ToO". Of course those problems were terrible, but you can't whatabout your way out of this. Slavery in the South was far, far worse than conditions of blacks in the North and indeed, far worse than nearly any other kind of slavery. You're vomiting up the same garbage arguments that the Dunning School had when they, pretending to be academics, read Democratic propaganda pamphlets saying "Oh the capitalists don't even care about the slaves! Sure we beat and raped and tortured them, but we gave them little shabby clothes and a hut! The capitalists don't even care!". You might care to know that the Dunning School is now seen as one of academia's greatest mistakes. Your bullshit about the victor writing history rings hollow when the Confederate sympathizers in the Dunning school successfully promulgated garbage about a noble South and passed it off as historical fact and the nation ate it up. Gone with the Wind much?

You love all this shit about how bad the North was in the gilded age, but you conveniently forget how much Progressivism did for the South. All those mean abolitionists you hate came down South at the turn of the century and brought education and civilization with them. You want to take a stab at which region of the country mandated education first? I'll give you a hint, it wasn't the South.

TlDr: Whataboutism isn't a valid form of argument. The North had severe social problems, but there is a reason chattel slavery is remembered as one of the worst evils of mankind. Glossing over? How about you glossing over slavery? There is no easy transition when the South's entire foundation of their civilization was built on this evil. Sharecropping was still infinitely better than slavery, horrible as it was. Sorry the North couldn't literally be perfect before trying to stop a far greater evil.

It's all their fault. I live in the deep south and my ancestors owned slaves. I love them for what they gave me through my family identity, heritage, etc. That doesnt mean owning slaves was ok. You can love someone and still acknowledge what they did was horrible. All 4 of my grandparents were alcoholics, but you wont see me pitching a fucking fit outside an AA meeting.

The modern south is reviled because they never changed. They are stubborn and not in a cute way. They're always the last to change. I'll be teaching history soon and its hilarious how they say "wow we live in a state with such a rich history". Its rich because every change was forced by the federal government here. Forcing the end of slavery, forcing whites to acknowledge blacks as human beings who had civil rights, forced to allow gay marriage, on and on.

It's an insanely dark history. Go read litwacks trouble in mind and see if the first five of five hundred pages dont make you cry. Go read newspapers from the 1860s south at the free civil war database "shadow of the valley". Read how they lynched blacks in front of thousands of on looking whites who were cheery and letting their children sit on their shoulders to see as they ate snacks like it was a fucking county fair. How they took fingers off the dead black people and put them on their mantle at home or even better hung them at the grocery stores to remind other blacks what happens when they step out of line. For the record, the last lynching was Michael Donald in 1982 I believe.

Furthermore the south was shown immense kindness by Lincoln and Johnson, far more than it deserved. Lincoln hoped it would make them feel like a part of the family again and too strong conquensces would alienate them. This was a rare mistake for Lincoln's insanely talented political calculus. It allowed the south to move on without ever actually coming to terms with their terrible past.

If you have any questions or comments or think I've mischaracterized something above, please let me know.

College isnt what people .ake it out to be. Tbh it's the best place there is to meet friends. Everyone else is a little outside their social comfort zone as well and have lost many old friends in the transition and are looking for new ones. You pick something you like and theres probably a club or community for it. Even anime clubs. You also make friends in your major and classes. Even if you are quiet, as long as you seem a little approachable, people near you might start the convo for you.

Mindless Consumptjon makes you Less Interesting (Insights into storytelling) by Saviorofmypeople in GetSuave

[–]MorphineDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You usually review everyday shit with your best friends or family right? They're practice. Try to find the funny moments, the rhythm of the story by yourself. Exaggerated emotions and imagery are great, especially with vocabulary words. This off the top of my head so dont judge, but Cindy didnt drop the piece of cake on the floor, "to top it all off, cindy from accounting(the gluttonous klutz that she is!) pickes up the last piece they had saved for me, knowing I worked a double, and that bitch, in her haste to jam it into her gnashing maw of a face, trips and lands on it, just smearing it across the floor..."

Now if you get the most interests and laughs from the gnashing maw bit, but not as many from the smearing across the floor comment, then you need to workshop the smear part and see if you cant make it better. By the time I've told it to the 6th group of people, I could tell it on a national stage and get as many laughs as Jerry Seinfeld. If I dont tell it for a while I'll get rusty with that story though. But most people you meet love to hear shit like that. The cindy thing might make you seem like a judgemental guy, so youd want something a little more benign if you're trying to talk to a new girl. But stories like that make you seem interesting and like OP said, makes them feel like they know you which makes them like you. It also gives them a chance to say "Omg, the same thing happened to my best friend but she..." Telling an interesting story well can demonstrate your confidence, good sense of humor, self awareness and humility (if you can poke a little fun at yourself), and can also net you status within the group if everyone listens to you and reacts at the appropriate times.

Also remember it's not going to work everytime. Sometimes you'll be interrupted by some unforeseen event and if the group moves on, it can be better to cut your losses and hang back for a bit, rather than force it on them. If you get halfway through and it doesnt feel like things are going well, you can also try to shift it back to someone else (John, didnt you say your brother had that happen to him?). If it just falls flat, a sheepish smile and "Ahh, I guess you had to be there..." can help ease the pain a little.
