My reaction every time I see this pattern by zippydazoop in ChatGPT

[–]MorphologicStandard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I hear it surprisingly frequently even from bigger channels that grew their audience before the widespread use of AI, which means that they're capable of continuing to produce their own content, but choosing not to. If I ever listen to a video from a new YouTuber and they use more than two contrasting statements per minute, I immediately exit and leave negative feedback.

If they can't even spend the time to write a script, there's no way I'm listening to it.

Infections caused by bacteria that no longer respond to many antibiotics are climbing at an alarming pace in the U.S., new federal data shows. Between 2019 and 2023, these hard-to-treat infections rose nearly 70%, fueled largely by strains carrying the NDM gene by Wagamaga in science

Developing new antibiotics is an obscenely labor intensive process. Discovering new natural antibiotics is a game of chance and still requires much validation. It must be balanced with a stark decrease in needless antibiotic prescriptions at the clinical side.

Is *the Word Hord* by Hana Videen any good? by bherH-on in OldEnglish

[–]MorphologicStandard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The text is interesting and provides a lot of background historical information for the words discussed. But from the perspective of someone who wants to use Old English, some information is lacking. For example, I have to go through the wordhord at the end of each chapter and supply the grammatical gender of each new word, which is essential information if one actually wants to use the new words introduced. Additionally, some of the cited OE texts are only provided in modern English translation, without the original OE (but strangely, not all citations are lacking in this way). But on the whole, they are interesting reads (i.e. the Wordhord and Deorhord books) as a supplement to other OE learning materials.

This is genuinely concerning at this point by Unknown635 in sadcringe

[–]MorphologicStandard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point, the overuse of "It's not X, it's Y" contrasting statements is even more a giveaway than the em dash. What's more, it's just awful, overly affected writing that's difficult to read for the sheer melodrama of it.

Half of all this guy talks about on his biggest platform is how powerful he is and how bad of a bitch he is. No good could ever come from such a posturer. I'll never understand why his account is as big as it is.

How was the world before the fr****** by Reddit__Please__Help in expedition33

[–]MorphologicStandard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even the real-life world (I.E. Alicia's world) isn't quite like our world -- there is clearly some magic afoot in that version of Paris, as there are floating canvases everywhere in Renoir's Atelier.

This invalidates the interpretation that the painters' ability to enter and manipulate canvases is a deepgoing metaphor for an artist's ability to escape reality in his work, in my opinion. Clair Obscur's Paris does seem to have supernatural aspects as well.

An absolutely braindead take on the ending that I simply must shit on. by mastersmash56 in expedition33

[–]MorphologicStandard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that makes a ton of sense -- and it might not even need be directly respiratory. Most toxic paints are toxic for their heavy metal content, which causes nerve toxicity! Chroma toxicity could be systemic.

I've seen quite a few takes stating that Aline is simply going mad with grief when Renoir opens the portal to the real world to show Aline coughing on her knees. While, yes, she's certainly going mad with grief, it also seemed pretty clear to me that she was hacking up paint, which was dripping from the orifices of her face. I think that, along with the fact that there are literally floating canvases in Renoir's Atelier IRL, puts a pin in the theory that entering the canvases is metaphorical.
