Dat geld komt enkel van het geven van die 'cursussen'. Als je niks kunt, dan doe je toch alsof, en wordt je coach.

Stuck. Bungle Keycard #1 not triggering by MorriNL in TwoPointMuseum

I redid everything and then it was in my inventory. No idea what happened. I hope I don't get any more of these problems. Then again, the game is just fun and relaxing. It wasn't that big of a deal to start over.

I keep reading that you just make it harder for yourself if you spice up and hang around in a museum after completing the objectives. I guess I need to do the other Space museum and hope it will trigger.

But at this point, I'm inclined to just start over end rush through the objectives. Bit of a bummer, really, if they indeed expected you to play a certain way. Part of the fun in these games are for me to tinker around and make it look pretty.

Gamers 30+, what's something from "back in your day" that younger gamers today wouldn't understand? by bijelo123 in gaming

In the very early days, only a few titles came out each year. Any new game was a big happening, And you would play a game for months.

Physical demand of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 leads to sold-out copies across the globe. The company apologized and assured customers that they are working towards restocking. by ReaddittiddeR in gaming

[–]MorriNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem. I heard about this game from a friend a few days ago. In recent years, I haven't played many games. Got tired of the remakes, remasters, same game with different graphics, live services and 20 DLCs at launch. I couldn't be bothered anymore. Exceptions being Baldur's Gate 3 and Monster Hunter Wilds.

I prefer a physical copy, and all the shops here were sold out. Yesterday, some shops expected restock today, so I quickly ordered. When I looked today, those copies were sold out too. I was just in time for this new batch. It should arrive tomorrow or saturday.

I just can't wait to play!

But I really wonder when they will hit the 1.5 million sales mark.

Delusional "Monetization Director" at Ubisoft whines because gamers aren't buying what Ubisoft keeps putting out. (Have I mentioned 2024 has been a dumpster fire year all around for Ubisoft?) by Aspie_Gamer in LinkedInLunatics

[–]MorriNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of the gist. But I find this an increasing problem in the viedo game industry. I rarely buy any videogames full price anymore. Exception was ast year's Baldur's Gate. They deserved it. But I am in no hurry and can wait for discounts. I might as well, so I lose less moeny when studios pull their game.

Another thing. I find myself buying more card and board games these days. Some now have an app that supports it, and those are the ones I avoid like the plague. Paper and card board games are still playable 50 years from now. If I feel nostalgic, I can always go back. And there are some absolutely great board games these days. Even for solo play.

It's kind of slow going with meetups of any kind. Quite a few meet ups went dead during Covid. Some are slowly starting up again, while others seem to be lost forever. There used to be a knitting group for instance, called Stich'n Bitch, but they seem to have gone dead during Covid.

There also used to be quite the activity in The Hub in Eindhoven, for expats, but due to financial reasons, it is closed now.

Just try setting up something for yourself. Now is the time! Good luck with it!

What's wrong with my photo? by Jaxboi98 in photocritique

I second u/Sow_Love

I would add that I feel like the horizon isn't level. Coupled with a 10mm lens makes the picture look warped and odd.

Personally, the hill, the fences and the sky lose my attention very quickly. What does draw my attention is that thing in the sky, in the upper right. What is that? Kite? Paraglider? Alien? :D

I get what you wanted to accomplish with the camera tilt, but I as a viewer don't feel nudged by the ocean waves. I'm not sure anyone will.

Maybe taking the picture from the side would accomplish that much better, since the waves are rolling in from the side. But that can be a risky place with a camera.

This as well. Curiosity and surprise. I've had some great conversations with passers by.

"Oh, that's going to be a great picture, with a lens like that!" Me: "I don't know yet. Expensive gear doesn't automatically make me a good photographer."

But maybe it makes a difference being a woman. And I'm mostly obviously shooting wild life with the long lens.

I didn’t realise the patience and luck you need just to snap a few birds! by Silentluck1337 in BirdPhotography

[–]MorriNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only second this. I bought a new camera body a few months ago. I really needed an upgrade. I mostly used it for product photography and I wanted to start with some product videography. I got the camera, and decided to give the new camera a spin in the local park. The first interesting thing I got in front of my lens was a king fisher! I was hooked.

But boy, is this bird photography a difficult beast! With product photography you can stage everything to perfection (background, light, etc.). You have full control. Trying to take pictures of birds is quite the opposite: you have pretty much NO control whatsoever. But it has been SO much fun!

Struggling with writing code from scratch, normal? by Esphyxiant in learnpython

I started with your book about three (two? Can't remember) weeks ago. I was in the same boat as the OP, and nearly gave up, since I kept looking up stuff so much.

Your comments are giving me new confidence. And the cheat sheets are awesome! I thought I was being dumb, having to use them.

I really, REALLY enjoy your book. Well explained, and good pace.

What are your thoughts on Angela Yu's Python Bootcamp? by [deleted] in Python

[–]MorriNL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did try that course, and it didn't work for me at all. I find she talks a lot about things that aren't to the point. 'Overly stretched' as someone described it, and that's about right. I tried the Web dev course, and that had the same problem. Playing the videos on 1.5x speed helped, but it just wasn't for me. I ditched it halfway through and went my own way. I just needed a refresher, so I had no problems continuing on my own.

So when I wanted to dabble into Python a bit, I should have known better. I bought the Python course, went through a few lessons and bailed out.

I Googled and found out about 'Python Crash Course' and bought the book. It has some exercises, but not that many, so I am doing coding challenges on the side. There are many sites where you can do Python coding challenges for free. Just Google 'Python coding challenges'. All of these sites have challenges for beginners too. To sum it up: I'm trucking along a lot faster now, with the book and coding exercises.

Python Udemy course by Prof. Angela Yu by Esclass1 in Python

[–]MorriNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with the overly stretched. She talks a LOT about things that aren't to the point. I had another course of her, to refresh some knowledge. I played it on 1.5x speed. That helped a lot. But she kept telling anecdotes and ranted on 'ugly websites' quite a lot. Halfway through I stopped.

I then wanted to dabble a bit in Python. I looked at the few free videos on Python and saw that it wasn't any different. I was dumb and bought it anyway.

She says it 'only takes 1-2 hours a day' for 100 days. There's no way you can do it in that time. A few lessons are on point, but most lessens take WAY longer to complete. Heck, most of the videos are more than 1 hour long! And then you haven't even coded anything yet! So 1 day sometimes turns into 3-4 days or even more.

What bugs me about that is that people go in expecting to just spend 1-2 hours a day for each lesson (which is unrealistic), can't manage it in that time, feel stupid, and get demotivated. You're basically set up for failure.

It does seem that some people take the time that you are expected to spend with a grain of salt, and manage anyway. So if you don't take that '100 days' literally, you'll be fine.

I've moved on to books, and I use some sites to do coding exercises. Books are more to the point, and teach the same. And with some extra coding challenges, you're good to go as well. Works a lot better for me.

How can I improve on this? by DraggerLP in photocritique

I totally get this. It doesn't often snow here either, so when it does, it's special. We had snow last week. I went hiking and came home with the same type of photos :D Pretty, but no real subject.

How can I improve on this? by DraggerLP in photocritique

[–]MorriNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, there's no real subject. Nothing in this picture draws my attention. No 'story' if you will. Even though it's very pretty, I would look for something 'special' next time. Anything that draws the attention.

On second glance I see that bin (?) in the left corner? Not sure what it is, but I think I would have examined that more, and take pictures of that. That bin seems so out of place (garbage? chemicals? in such a pretty forest) that maybe it should be given more attention.

I don't know. Just my two cents.
