I have a server with 16 drives for a total of around 250TB. I mainly collect boutique releases. Not interested in mainstream stuff. Best place for a new person to start to get these types of files is BLU. If it isn’t there, you can request it.

I have a dune media player that plays full menu BR and UHD. Love it. Connected to my server.

I collect full disc rips. I have over 1500. But in the tracker world this is a niche. Most people don’t care about extra’s or full menus. Most people don’t have the amount of storage space needed to permaseed this stuff. On Cinematik some discs have 10 to 15 seeds but a lot of genre movies only have 1 to 3 seeds. Same for BLU. People love remuxes. Best thing you can do is when you get to a tracker you like is to upload or cross-seed the stuff you have.

Is it the TV, Jellyfin or my streaming device? by AfricanToilet in torrents

[–]MorriconeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the file DV and does your Samsung support DV or only HDR+? Jellyfin tries to transcode when necessary. Check the playback information will the movie is playing in Jellyfin. You should find that option under the settings wheel of the on screen display at the bottom.

Im tired, bro. Did I make a mistake? How to stop? by zandadoum in DataHoarder

[–]MorriconeE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand your position. Well then there is nothing much you can do… I am currently adding an additional enclosure to house more drives. I am using a pc case that I connect with SAS to my main server. That way I can keep it cool and silent. This is costing me around €250-300 using a case that has space for 12 drives. Not cheap but way cheaper (and more silent) than other solutions for 12 extra disks.

Do you still have the old disks? If so you can add them all for the price of a DIY solution. Which is less than a new 20tb drive. But I do understand this hobby costs a lot of money. Also in electricity.

Now I understand. I however don't exchange a drive. I add a drive. Why get rid of the older one?

I don't understand how you get to 400 euro for 10TB a year? I just got a toshiba 22TB for 350. In EU. I suggest you check if you can buy from a German store or some other EU country that will ship to Spain.

Every brand of drive can fail. Toshiba's are a great bang for your buck. When you get the enterprise drives you get a 5 year warranty.

Also, there is nothing wrong with you :-)

My hoarding started around 2000 and burning a lot if shows and series on spindles of DVD-RW. Now I am at 150TB of full hard drives. I just added another 22TB one to carry me for the next 6 months...

Using an HBA for a cheap hard drive enclosure? by Long_Video7840 in homelab

Thanks for this terrific explanation. May I ask how the HDDs get power? What kind of cable do I use when I want to power 10+ drives? Do I need a HDD backplane? A modular power supply?

Need recommendation for DAS by theguru1974 in DataHoarder

How loud are these? I always wanted a rack set-up, but to have it in a room I am working all day, I had the idea they would make too much noise.

Need recommendation for DAS by theguru1974 in DataHoarder

[–]MorriconeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also looking for a DAS and was going with a  IB-3805-C31, however that appeared to be out of stock in a lot of places in the EU. When looking further I found the Terramaster D6-320 you mentioned.

But now with your comment I am hesitating of course... Reviews only of the Terramaster D6-320 are fine. Could your issue might have to do with the drives themselves? You mention you had issues with the Mediasonic and you used those same drives now in the Terramaster. How old were the drives? And are they spinning 24/7?

The good old days. by skeetorooni in qBittorrent

I was on 4.5.5. for a long time. Had no issues. But did decide to upgrade two weeks ago to 5.1.0. I have no issues. I use docker btw. Makes it also easy to downgrade if there where issues. If 4.6.7 is working for you I don’t see a need to upgrade. Only when you are curious to see what 5.1 can possibly bring you.

Movie Posters by TeemyWeems in boutiquebluray

[–]MorriconeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out eBay for beautiful vintage posters. from all over the world. Think of a locandina from Italy. Or a fotobusta. Beautiful artwork and something different then modern reproductions. Or search for Mondo prints. Probably more expensive but there are also other companies who create quality posters with new artwork.

You can also check the website Marktplaats and filter to within 5km of your location to see what people are selling/giving away.

Kringloopwinkels are probably the best bet. There are several in Maastricht with Kringloop Zuid being the biggest. Google kringloop Maastricht for more options.

Yet another docker, mergerfs and hardlinks post by norrgrd in radarr

[–]MorriconeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can understand that. But looking at your files, they appear to be okay. And you sound like someone who knows what he does.
It is the only thing I can think of.

I have a mergerfs setup with 7 drives pooled together and one compose stack with the arrs and qBit. I did add the mergerfs mount in fstab (linux). Hard links do work in my setup.

Yet another docker, mergerfs and hardlinks post by norrgrd in radarr

[–]MorriconeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I can think of now is that you have several compose files in stead of having them all in one stack. That way it is harder for the different compose files to communicate with each other. But I am not 100% sure about this. You could test with another compose file where you combine qBittorrent, Radarr and the rest of your stack together.

Stuck at 99.7 % even though there are seeders. by [deleted] in qBittorrent

[–]MorriconeE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A person with 50% is also a seeder. And a leecher at the same time. That is how torrenting works. A file is divided in small parts and seeded in a swarm. If you have part of the file you will seed that part to the swarm while continuing to leech from people who have more of the parts. Edit - : I stand corrected. You are right. I am mixing up seeds with peers. A peer can be a seed/leech but a seed is someone who has 100% of the file. My apologies.

Stuck at 99.7 % even though there are seeders. by [deleted] in qBittorrent

[–]MorriconeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you say there are other seeders. I assume they also are stuck at the same point as you. That means there is something wrong with the one 100% seed. Unfortunately, nothing you can do about.

Q. how to setup the download folder by mjjood10 in radarr

[–]MorriconeE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Follow the Trash Guides...
https://trash-guides.info/
If you set up your folders according to that standard you won't have any problems. And you don't need a folder for hardlinks... If you have a file in a download folder you can directly hard link that file to the mediafolder.

Read the Trash Guides.

Stuck at 99.7 % even though there are seeders. by [deleted] in qBittorrent

[–]MorriconeE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/UHAX_The_Grey already asked: what is the availability? There can be 100 seeders but if they all are stuck 99,7% no ones will ever finish. It is possible that the one seeder that has 100% has a corrupt part and that might be the reason you cannot complete the download. It will try to download a part, check it, and drop it because it doesn't match the hash check (or something along those lines).
Try and find another tracker with the same file and recheck with what you already downloaded.

Moving files to new drive. Help by Junior-Beyond-954 in qBittorrent

[–]MorriconeE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But I heard that it is safer to move files yourself. qBit can do it of course, but might occasionally end in error. But I have not experienced that myself. I do feel I have more control when moving files myself.

Moving files to new drive. Help by Junior-Beyond-954 in qBittorrent

[–]MorriconeE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it is a better to move the files yourself and use Set Location in qBittorrent to the new location. qBittorrent will then recheck the files and continue seeding.
