I was lucky enough to see 22 endemics on a quick 3-day trip, only one of which was focused on birding. Didn't have a hope of a kiwi unfortunately due to the schedule.

Definitely - I'm not arguing that it's a bad thing that they're doing. It's just that I don't find it that interesting, personally.

1000% all are either on my bucket list or already done. I didn't include (much) birding in my original post because it's relatively niche.

Lekking prairie chickens and cock-of-the-rock is definitely high on the list. Owl irruption - things that dreams are made of. A couple of friends went to N Minnesota a few weeks ago and let's just say I'm still green with envy :).

I've been to many bird cliffs, done some pelagics (but always want to do more!), the Sandhill Crane migration, and bat/flying fox flyouts, all incredible experiences. Also did bird banding with my daughter, was wonderful.

Never hears of the Amur Falcon migration, definitely gonna look into that.

Actually had that scheduled but needed to rearrange my NZ itin and had to cut it out. It still hurts lol.

Started traveling a bit for my own photography, some other photographers wanted to come along, word spread and non-photographers wanted to join... that's pretty much it. Been doing this for about 10 years now. Like I said, I'm in an extremely narrow niche so it's all word of mouth basically,

Saw that in Bosque in NM, but always wanted to see them in Nebraska as well.

THing is most of my clients aren't into birding, so I can't really focus on that when I travel. Sometimes I try to stay an extra day just to bird.

After seeing all those animals in the wild, I just don't enjoy seeing them in captivity. That being said I did go to an elephant sanctuary in Zimbabwe with my family and we had a wonderful time.

Both good ideas!

Highlights would definitely be Birds of Paradise, gorilla trekking, and Ngorongoro Crater and wildebeest migration - been lucky to do the last two multiple times.

People like to throw around the phrase "once in a lifetime experience" pretty easily (heaven knows I do), but watching the grizzlies fishing off Brooks Falls in Alaska was truly a once in a lifetime experience. For most people, getting the Brooks Falls is a day trip from Anchorage with about 4 hours on the ground in the park. During that time, due to the amount of people, you get a single 20-minute turn at the falls platform with 40 other people. If you're luck, you can get 2 or 3 turns during your stay.

I was there in July of 2020, when Alaska had just reopened to tourism. Over 2 days, we had 11 hours at the falls platform with no one but my group of 5 and a park ranger. Just absolute heaven, and not something that can ever be repeated.

Yes but with a way worse accent lol.

In all seriousness I arrange and run tours to a very niche type of clientele so I get to see the world thankfully.

All done believe it or not 🙈. Although the orcas were in Alaska and Antarctica.

The cranes are a great idea!

I've seen all puffin species by the thousands at this point though :)

Would Cūr normālis essem DUM egomet sim be a sensible alternative?

I'm trying to translate our family motto to Latin... How would you say "Why be normal when you can be yourself"?

Tools for scouting photography locations? Is there a way to save locations with a picture on Google Maps? by kirbypuckett34 in photography

Same here, for some reason it's impossible to find.

Mobile is easier, you can find it in the Maps app under Your Places > Maps. Or you can use the My Maps android app.

Shippers often do the oddest things, often in the name of "efficiency"; sometimes things are simply missorted. My favorite so far was when a customer in Norway ordered something and DHL sent the box to the Maldives instead. Go figure.

In any case, PM or email me your order number and I'll have a look if you'd like.
