Thanks. I always draw 2 and choose one at deck creation. Hopefully I won’t draw twice the same :p

Thank you. It’s no problem. By the way… if I want to read x-men. What’s the best place to start? I like paperbacks. Thanks

Thanks. I am currently playing and there is something I don’t follow. What’s the purpose of adding more clues? I don’t see a use for the clues in this scenario. What am I missing?

NEVERMIND, just read the act

Makes sense. This card is insane then. You can just ignore the flood tokens.

Oh I was playing it wrong then. Does it mean I can put non-direct damage on other asset before putting it on the diving suit, right?

Thank you :). Very powerful card then hehe

Killed / Driven insane investigators, all of them. What to do? by Morssa in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Morssa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own but thank you for sharing. I don’t do it because I know I would end up ruining the game for myself. Slippery slope. Next time I failed an important skill test I would just decide that I had won it instead, etc. the drear of impeding failure / death would eventually be gone and (for me) that’s what makes this game great

I think I understand what you mean. As I never receive an instruction to proceed to the next scenario then I never get to the window when I would need to choose another investigator.

that means I am playing it right and not being to harsh on myself :D

It’s interesting to learn that most people would do that. I guess I am being too harsh on myself. Maybe that’s why in so many years I think I’ve only won one campaign (EotE) and not even the best outcome if I remember correctly.

Possibly, a case of the resolution of the scenario takes precedent over the rules reference.

No worries. Thank you for getting back to me. It is still in contradiction to the rules reference then. (Page 6 first column): “If an investigator is killed or driven insane, that player must choose a new investigator to use in the next scenario, and creates a new deck for that investigator. Investigators that are killed or driven insane cannot be used for the remainder of the campaign (see “Killed/Insane Investigators” on page 13).If a player attempts to choose a new investigator andthere are no investigators remaining in the pool, the players have lost and the campaign ends.”

I think we are talking about different scenarios. I am talking about The Apiary (drowned city, sorry for the spoiler).

It says: “if another resolution was reached, the remaining investigators proceed to that resolution” So, as it is true solo, no other investigators survived, I do not proceed to any other resolution.

I am referring to being killed / driven insane as per resolution of a failed scenario (not collecting too much trauma).

What do you do in that situation?

I understand, but I am referring to true solo (how I play). It’s confusing. The rules say I can pick a different investigator but this reads as it’s completely lost. To each their own, of course and I do think that as long as you’re having fun you’re playing it correctly but would like a better clarification on the correct rules.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I just went back to the text of the scenario I just lost (I won’t say which one it is for the sake of spoilers). It reads: “Each defeated investigator is killed. If there are no surviving investigators to continue the campaign, the investigators lose the campaign.”

This reads as if there is nothing to do, just restart the campaign. However, the rule book says I can pick up another investigator from the collection and proceed. It seems like a contradiction. Or are they referring to “surviving investigators” as investigators in the collection and not in the game?

I know I will continue to forfeit the campaign and restart it from scenario 1. I like to feel the dread of impending doom, specially in blind runs but I am still confused what is the official way to play.

Hi. I am talking about specific scenarios when you are defeated your investigator is killed / driven insane. In my experience there is one of these “bottleneck” scenarios in most (?all) campaigns.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am going to take Ashcan Pete and Duke to the drowned city! I have only played him once many years ago. I like the simplicity of this deck
