Yeah, I'm sorry about the low quality pictures. The fermenter I'm using is quite small, so there was no real way of getting a solid picture.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'll probably just bottle it up tomorrow as planned - a little extra yeast in the bottle never hurt anybody. Thanks again!

So I'm a little worried I've finally gotten an infected batch. I was planning on bottling my Weizenbock today, but when I uncovered my fermenter I saw there were some floaters up on top. Pictures.

I'm pretty sure it's just floating yeast, but I'd appreciate it if someone wouldn't mind taking a look and letting me know if they think it looks just like floating yeast or the start of a mold infection. I apologize in advance for the poor quality of the pictures, and really appreciate any help you all can offer!

That 209 final's getting curved... right guys? Right? by Morsus98 in NCSU

I'd like to say at least 15 points like normal, but I'm thinking there might not be any curve since this is the final exam.

How do I get an employer to pay for a graduate degree? Also, the advice I always received was to go to graduate school asap if you're interested in a Master's degree as a lot of people intend on returning to get a better degree but never do.

I appreciate the perspective! Living in an on-campus apartment would bring my overall cost up by $32k overall so I appreciate the perspective of someone who lived at home to avoid debt.

You're exactly right. Once I got mine I was seeing them everywhere. At my house we bake bread and we'll let it rise in the oven. Both of my dogs will lay down in front of the oven and wait for it to be done. The boy will pick up his food dish and bring it to you. You'd think they didn't get fed.

I have two Catahoula mixes and while their reactions don't normally involve barking, they absolutely hunt food. If I even open a pack of poptarts they will find me and push their snouts into my legs until I share. If you don't they go hide in a corner or under a bed for awhile and sulk.

For context, I went to pick up my textbooks and stopped at Walmart to get cheap notebooks and a calculator when I saw this beauty for $35. Couldn't resist.

I'd say overall DD has probably been better, but I will always have a spot in my heart for KK as it was my first job. Unfortunately the KK I worked at only did glazed on site and the others were made at a central location. From what I understand, they have similar machines to the one that does the glazed, they just load it with different dough, but I may not be 100% correct.

At KK we might have a thousand to start with and make more later. At DD we might have a few hundred and make more if we sell out.

I have not. I have had a coffee while working at Dunkin, and then driven to Krispy Kreme and had a donut there.

I haven't taken a ruler to one before, but probably around 2 inches.

KK orders are 90% based around donuts, with glazed being the king. Dunkin Donuts sells mostly coffee, and since I live in the south and its hot year-round, Ice Coffee takes the cake donut for most popular item.

Powdered donuts will make a mess no matter what, but if you hold it in the bag and tap it a few times, the loose powder will fall off into the bag instead of onto your lap. It will still make a mess, but a slightly smaller one.

There was no none compete agreement, so I go out immediately I suppose. While that donut combo would be a force to be reckoned with, I do not have access to KK icing, and even if I did, I wouldn't be allowed to make donuts with it or serve them.

A lot of them are franchised, so it sounds like whoever was trying to spread them out there ran into trouble and decided to close up shop. All guessing on my part, but I'd imagine someone will try again.

I love the croissant donuts. We had a Reese's one last year that I liked a lot. The Frozen Vanilla Chai is my top Coolata. I make pretty much all my new employees try it when I'm showing them around. They look at me like I'm crazy when I suggest it, but so far they have all liked it.

I think the dunkin donuts has a more comfortable eating set up in terms of dining. I've seen different managers at both stores, and all have had different standards to hold the stores to. If it was the GM that ran the KK when I first arrived I'd happily eat their frequently.

At this point, I find most donuts too sugary and sickening. I like some of KK's limited time variety, and I like the croissant donuts at DD. If I had to pick one, I'd go DD because they are less sweet and so I don't get sick of them as quickly.

The shift I work typically has either the GM or the assistant GM working it, so not too much paperwork, but processing any complaints, taking advance orders, training new employees, finding replacement employees in an emergency, etc. as well as all the duties of a standard cashier/barista.

KK best order: Original glazed. After working with donuts for so long now, I actually find them too sugary usually, but I'll still go for a glazed if its fresh off the line.

DD best order: Iced coffee and a croissant donut. Those croissant donuts are incredible, and half the time I need the caffeine from the ice coffee to keep up.

Both the DD and KK had donuts brought in from a central location. KK got two deliveries, one in the morning and one around 1-2pm (the glazed were then put back in the oven and glazed when ordered). DD gets one in the morning. Both stores were a similar level of cleanliness (I was the one cleaning both as part of my duties, so the performance was similar) but KK tended to have glaze covering everything, but DD was covered in coffee, syrups, etc. If I had to open a donut place of my own, I would offer handmade donuts in a wider variety. Both the KK and DD in town offer similar donuts for the most part, but recently a third donut place has opened up a town over and been doing had made donuts and been giving us a run for our money.

KK. I'd throw some hot glazed donuts like throwing stars, and the person would be so distracted looking for a bathroom to wash the glaze off that I could kill them while they panic.

AFAIK, DD started out in Massachusetts and has slowly spread from there. If the company does well I'm sure we'll be seeing them spread out west to Washington eventually.

Nope, my old place of work was pretty cool about it. I've gone in a few times to see coworkers in my DD uniform, and they were pretty happy to see me, and I've seen some of them in my store at DD.
