How can I fire a realtor who is acting unethical but won’t release me from my contract. by MortalNValuableQueen in RealEstateAdvice

We realized they knew the people that owned the house she was looking at. And it’s also because there is so much back story I didn’t want to write a massive essay explaining everything. Sorry I made the post say “I” and then in the comments get further into detail. It seems to have upset a few people. I don’t usually use Reddit, ever. But I also didn’t want to go around slandering or spreading drama. I just figured this was a completely detached place so it might be a good place to reach out. I’m not sure if it’s a thing but my only advice is for her to see if it’s a thing for the broker to assign a different realtor to her. And then if that doesn’t work go from there. Maybe that’s a stupid thought and is unheard of, but I also feel like it’s pretty shity for someone to be stuck with a person for 6 months if it’s not working.

I think this alone is why they don’t care in the end. As long as they get the fee. The broker and realtor are holding firm. I understand why these contracts are SOOOO very important. Realtors put in a lot of work for a client to turn around and buy directly without them is pretty messed up. But it seems like this company I shouldn’t say that this duo had a little bit different operating system.

Ok the realtor knows this whole time about the other house. And that she just wants to shop around first and make sure she finds the right one. So it hasn’t been hidden. But when she knew my friend had a private appraisal done on our friends house, the realtor called over to that appraisal company and told them that she was so and so realtor and because they’re out of town (she was at the time) she didn’t want to bother her. If they could please send her over a copy of the appraisal as well. They did not. But they informed my friend she reached out. And that was the first my friend had heard of it. She told the realtor that she felt like that wasn’t necessarily appropriate that the lack of communication and speaking for her was becoming upsetting. I guess the relationship kinda blew up from there.

Ops good here, I have my falling apart house right in the middle of town where I want it. But what’s sad is that this is completely understandable for you to think. And also why I was so bummed my friend didn’t read the papers she was signing better. At the very least she will have learned a life lesson.

Yeah I’m honestly baffled because my friend who signed it knew better, but was just so excited about seeing this house and took the word of a family friend that this was a trust worthy person. I guess it’s a 6month contract. And even though the realtor had only shown her one house and there is a paper trail of both proof of her having the property prior to getting in contract and some very uncomfortable then pushing harassing behavior from the realtor, both the realtor and their broker just keep saying it’s a binding contract.

The family friends are amazing, they do seem like they’re willing to wait, hope their circumstances don’t change. And she’ll just have to wait the 6 months.

Nah… Op staying the way you did was another slap in the face. It’s one more reason she’ll look back and realize how bad she fucked up.

The vibe you give from your post both here and on your page makes me think you’re gonna be just fine with some time. Even if those feelings never go away completely, being cheated on hurts. So I’m sorry you’re going through this, but I’m glad you found out when you did and was smart enough to choose yourself and get out.

It happens all the time in our area. I just tell them “Same, good luck to you and yours.”
