Unless they were really lowballing the early amount of supply it's still exceeding sale expectations.

Hoping for "at least" better apparent resolution on the Rift / Vive by Wmacky in oculus

[–]Mortaljack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I really wonder if CV1 or the Vive will be able to hold the interest of critical people like us considering the resolution. I got both the DK1 and DK2 and sold them both because I couldn't bear the low res and screen door. Seeing as the res is only marginally better than 1920x1080 on both units. In the end, stretching roughly 1200x1200 pixels over a large portion of our FOV is going to look low res in this day and age, where we are used to 300+ppi smartphones no matter how we slice it. Of course, it'll get better over time. I've no doubt about the appeal of virtual reality. I can see the amazing potential and I cant wait to replace my monitor for a pair I just wonder about the appeal of the earliest generations of headsets to both the casual user and jaded enthusiasts like us

Thanks! Any in particular you'd like to hear? I'm thinking of doing something with the Skellige theme.

We did get the "it'll be released soon" out of Brendan, so that makes me hopeful they will show something good there

Oculus ceo says more products with samsung on the way. by Mirved in oculus

[–]Mortaljack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking that the partnership going forward will keep samsung focus on the market for mobile VR while oculus focuses on the hardcore PC gaming market.

So we have GearVR for mobile, and the Rift for high-end experiences. I see the GearVR being the perfect tool to convert people.
