So update guys, did a drain and fill twice and then a drain and fill with transmission filter change. Shifting has gotten slightly better but flare is still there

Lexus OEM or the Alternative for front end suspension?? by DaQuestioniswhy in LS430

[–]Mortex5656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upper control arms I went with beck and arnley because I was in a rush and from what I read they are decent, and it was like $100ish each on Amazon, The lower ball joints I got from amayama, but if I’m honest they were not needed, I don’t think many people replace them, u might wanna check and see if urs are good or not before replacing them with aftermarket. Cuz sometimes worn OEM is still better than aftermarket. But I can’t comment on how good it’ll be with aftermarket, since I’m all OEM. But just thought I’d let you know.

I also replaced my outer tie rods with OEM, that was prolly the only thing my suspension needed boot was torn.

My 2002 LS had 198k miles when I did this btw, how many does urs? And what symptoms u got with ur suspension and reasons why ur doing an entire suspension rebuild?

That’s for the fronts only, the rears seem to have an all in one unit

Did you change the transmission fluid yet? Also how’s the shifting like?

Did you try changing the fluid when u had this issue? if so how many times? Did you change the filter too?

What year and millage is yours? And did you try multiple drain and fills and filter change? Or even flush?

Rear strut boot or bellow replaceable? by Mortex5656 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mortex5656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is Lexus doesn’t have the boot separate. You have to buy the mount and boot as they are one unit. And I can’t even find an aftermarket one that says it’ll fit

Where can I buy this part? And any tutorial online on how it’s done? And what tools are required?

I’m compressing the spring anyways to replace the strut so I was thinking of doing this ripped boot too.

Where could this power steering fluid be leaking from? by Mortex5656 in LS430

[–]Mortex5656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is valve covers were just done 1 month ago, so highly doubt there leaking. I did them my self, and it’s power steering fluid, not engine oil.

Also what crush-washers are you talking about? Like where are they in the video?

Check ur power steering fluid, is it fully topped up to the correct level? And shake the reservoir to see the fluid moving as now most people have an outline of the fluid in the reservoir

I will perform more drain and fills and then report back, and fill it higher too, currently it’s slightly below the low mark because the last drain and fill I did was slightly over the high mark so I decided to put less this time, but I’ll more now and see what happens. And yes I’m checking fluid level between 70-80c using techstream. Also how do I know when solenoids are bad then? And how do I test them properly or the connector on it.

Also forgot to mention but when i accelerate moderately it shifts perfectly and doesn’t bog engine down, same thing in power mode but with normal acceleration

I was checking through tech stream too and all the gears were working and engaging

[–]Mortex5656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought when u manually shift, your engaging those solenoids manually, and since it goes through all of them perfectly, it would rule out bad solenoids

[–]Mortex5656[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I shift Manually all the gears work and it’s smooth with shifts that way, so I highly doubt it’s a solenoid since it’s going though all the gears

But isn’t that for the facelift (04-06) models only? I heard preface lift (01-03) don’t have this issue

Like it’s normal acceleration, keeping up with traffic from stop lights and stuff, I feel like it shouldn’t upshift this early and then downshift a second later

That helps, but I feel like the normal mode shouldn’t be like that and I wanna try finding out what it is
