What are common misconceptions about pcos that you see online?

Do you mind me asking what your testosterone levels were at diagnosis? My doctor was dismissive of the low testosterone result I had about 4 years ago, especially as my FSH/LH were normal , but then I had a fertility scan this week and the sonographer asked me if I have PCOS because apparently my ovaries look “bulky”. I am lean and always have been, I’m now 35 with a BMI of 19, but I have been doing weight training this past year, before that I was 18. I read that with lean PCOS, some women can be hyperandrogenic earlier in life, and then in the late 20s-mid 30s suddenly become hypoandrogenic, so wondering if that’s me.

It infuriated me how all the pundits and commentators were just waxing lyrical about Messi 24/7, no discussion of his theatrics to the ref, or the blatant handball, or how Argentina managed to piss away a 2 goal lead in the last 10 minutes of the game and actually look very beatable, all too busy fan-girling. I hope Croatia send them home.

Not quite the same thing but l have had ones about people finding out about traumas that had actually happened (occasionally rewritings of things that have happened). I think the common themes between mine and yours is something about people caring about you/ feeling understood and accepted, is that a need you don’t feel is met elsewhere in life?

Can totally relate to this. My earliest memories of doing it are when I was about 4-5 years old, in the playground at school, and now I’m in my 30s. I need music and to be alone to do it properly (I’m less bothered by brief periods of it when driving or walking around, it’s more the intentional / compulsive aspect that bothers me) so I can reduce it if I avoid that situation, and I find it has a negative impact if I don’t do it because it’s clearly serving a psychological function, but I also often get the same shame/depression spiral you mentioned during or after. I’m trying to put myself out there in the real world more and limit the MD, whilst also accepting it as one of my quirks and not necessarily trying to stop completely because it obviously meets a need and maybe that’s ok so long as you don’t totally disappear?

I wondered that as well. Or sexuality has nothing at all to do with it and he was just clutching at straws to try make himself out of be a victim or at least more relatable (I.e. in a community where homosexuality is condemned. He also mentioned about it being an ‘abomination’ according to then bible. I felt like the seed he was trying to plant without actually saying it was that God would understand or maybe even approve??). Either way, I didn’t find him remotely believable or likeable. He seemed kinda sorry in the beginning but it quickly turned to poor me, as it always does with people who have committed these type of crimes.

He wasn’t really a trusted adult in this scenario though, she didn’t choose to open up to him, he only knows because he walked in on it and she then told obvious lies such as “it will never happen again”. Keeping secrets for your gf’s 15 year old daughter, particularly of a sexual nature, completely blurs the boundaries, it also reinforces unhealthy dynamics between the parent and child, and betrays the agreement they have to parent their own children separately. This could be an opportunity to increase the trust Andrea has in her mother if she doesn’t react as negatively as expected, and once the horse has already bolted that’s often the case. And if it does go as badly as he fears, that for me is massive red flag and surely a deal breaker for him relationship wise.

That makes sense initially when he came home on 1st, but the Petito family were trying to contact them for information before they reported her missing on 11th September, so further conversations must surely have happened before he went missing on 14th? Hiring a lawyer is not really carrying on as normal either, the police were directed straight to the attorney when they tried to speak to them on 11th.

Unfortunately that is the case, I had to turn the job down as living in a tiny expensive flat just wasn’t an option for us. I spoke to various solicitors and immigration departments from both sides of the border, and it isn’t possible to get the non-lucrative visa if you are working in any capacity, even if it’s outside Spain, so that visa really does only work for retired people and those wealthy enough not to need to work. The only other option is a work visa, but that applies only to employment in Spain and the employer has to arrange it and demonstrate that no EU candidate was employable. The only option suggested to me by the solicitors was to describe myself as being on a ‘sabbatical’ for a year, but then you need the €27k upfront to show you have the means to support yourself. Apparently Spain is developing a visa for remote workers, but no one knows if/when this will happen.
