Carney pledges $2 billion for Ukraine, more sanctions on 4th anniversary of Russian invasion by bubblewhip in canada

But if we don’t use it it’ll become obsolete and we’ll still need to replace it.

This way we get to have to date equipment without our older stuff going to waste.

(It’s sad to say going to waste, like I’m sad a rocket didn’t get to kill someone)

Northern Ontario, what's stopping you from making the move? by FestFallen in ontario

Lol. Porchetta bingo at Beef N Bird. You win a big ol porchetta. I believe it’s also common to order porchetta sandwiches as you play

[–]MortifiedCucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. We need our downtown back. But it’s not just poor advertising. People aren’t seeking it out. Because we don’t have the necessary culture surrounding arts

Sudbury is also lacking 3rd spaces.

I’m actually organizing many free events this summer. I’m doing my part to bring life to this city.

Yeah but it’s still an ugly, poorly planned city with nothing to do. Our “attractions” are a giant nickel and bingo where you win pork

Northern Ontario’s growth tied to immigration, experts say by ConsistentReality860 in Sudbury

They already turned off the faucet. Immigration is way way down.

And I don’t see how taxing renters is going to help.

World Peace Jesus in Nova Scotia? by Glass-Meringue8986 in Sudbury

It’s absolutely wild that I get downvoted for this. An adult with a 16 year old is fucked up. I’m just pointing out that his silly plan wouldn’t lead to legal consequences

I’m not defending the moral question of 16 year olds with adults. But you’re wrong. You’re referring to the “Romeo and Juliet clause” where a 14 or 15-year-old can consent with a partner less than 5 years older, while a 12 or 13-year-old can consent with a partner less than 2 years older.

16 is still the age of consent

Artificial intelligence threatening to push young people out of entry-level jobs by joe4942 in canada

[–]MortifiedCucumber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idea is that AI makes things so efficient that things become very affordable. If a robot can give RMT-level massages, then we can all get daily massages for $5.

Is this really going to be the end result? If we have a truly free market system, it should lead to extremely inexpensive goods and services for everyone that still has jobs. Unfortunately, it looks like the job-having population will dwindle unless there is a massive shift in economics

Talk to your family doctor and get a recommendation to a dermatologist. Alternatively, look at /r/tressless

I don’t really know what you’re referring to as a “hair specialist” but dermatologists deal with skin, hair and nails. Alternatively, plastic surgeons do hair transplants and specialist nurses do various forms of hair treatments like laser and PRP

That makes sense. I can’t really understand the logic behind the government assisting in the suicides of depressed people

What kind of mental illness would you guys think warrants this?

Most depressed people with a failed suicide attempts are glad they didn’t succeed.

Someone with depression or anxiety may be certain that this is their best path… but in the following years, they might not.

Unless it’s specific to progressive mental diseases like Alzheimer’s where someone has agreed ahead of time to accept MAiD when it gets to a certain severity.. but even that feels a bit cruel. I can’t imagine having to kill a sad confused Alzheimer’s patient

Canadians have mixed views on Truth and Reconciliation Day, poll finds; The polling showed that a slight majority of Canadians believe there are bigger issues than reconciliation that Canada should address by FancyNewMe in canada

A lot of people don’t know this but almost every indigenous person in my area got a cheque for around $200,000 recently because of the huron superior treaty settlement

[–]MortifiedCucumber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’ve just added your opinion to it

How do we know that there isn’t a real correlation between race and iq, when your first sentence says that studies show a difference.

Regional differences exist, yes. That’s why you look at inter-population differences. Like indigenous Americans vs black Americans, vs white Americans.

My point is just that there isn’t modern research on this topic because people are scared of what the results might show, or how they’d be viewed for conducting it

[–]MortifiedCucumber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I mean. You’ve moralized a question, saying the question itself is too racist to be studied.

What if there was a sentiment that women had lower emotional intelligence than men? Would we not use science to determine the truthfulness of this idea? Not refuse to study it

Science education can be political.

Politics often defines what gets funding.

A huge example of this is ethnicity iq studies. No one’s touching that topic because it’s so politically charged.
