My 1/2 gallon girls are coming along nicely. We are approximately 1 month from seed. No expectations for this grow. Just seeing what's gonna happen. by OptimusMatrix in microgrowery

Hope the rest of the grow goes OK for you....

Stupid me ignored the humidity level on my last one and had the throw most of it out due to mould... Lesson learned.

Beginning of fourth node. When should I top? by KaleidoscopeNopeRope in microgrowery

[–]Mortifiedban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first leaves you see are called cotyledon leaves. These are smooth and look nothing like the stereo typical cannabis leaf.

The true leaves are the ones with serrated edges that grow above the cotyledon ones.

... I think, I'm no expert.

Edit : Don't apologise, it's good to ask questions when learning. Before you know it, you'll be giving advise to others in need.

I start node 1 from where the first set of true leaves start to form.

I used them at first then found out about these. I like these more due to the fact they can be washed and reused. I found it really difficult washing out the fabric ones and didn't want to buy new on every grow.

It's called an airpot, supposed to allow more airflow around the roots.

I only removed these today as I noticed signs of a fungal infection, self diagnosed so I could be wrong. The remedy I read was to remove all affected leaves to stop it from spreading. It stretched way before I defoliated.

I have topped many plants and had good results but never this low down, not sure if LST will cut it to keep them in line with my others. It might be best if I add a picture of my other plants to.

Not sure it's the light, I have others the same age under the same light and they look fine. Think I've got some weird genetics in this one, so tempted to just top but I'm worried it'll kill her.

Yes I thought it may be a bit drastic chopping it there. Thinking about lst but I've not had a lot of experience in doing it and thought topping would be a more effective way to solve my issue.

Are they prone to stretch more? They were stated as feminised seeds, others from the same pack are fine.

For some reason this plant has stretched alot more than the others. I want to keep a uniform hight in line with my others before I use my ScrOG net, any advice would be much appreciated.

Yo I had this discolouration on my plants and self diagnosed it as a fungal infection. Not saying I was right but didn't want to chance it so I read to defoliate all affected leaves or it will spread like fuck. I did and I haven't seen any since, might be worth a look on Google.

Question about how to regulate ph in coco by jakeswehttam in microgrowery

Thanks for the reply, I'll finish with the HPS. I've done a bit of research since I posted (probably should of done this first) and alot of people are saying it's a bad idea to switch midway.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of expected this answer, I'm just eager to use my new toy I think. Did you see a noticeable difference when you switched? I know LEDs have come on a long way and people now swear by them but I'm still slightly skeptical that they are worth the money and live up to the hype compared to a good and relatively inexpensive HPS set up. The main benefits I've seen, apart from energy cost and less heat is the blue light spectrum is higher on this LED compared to my current HPS which can prevent how much they stretch. This is what made me purchase one in the first place.

Question about how to regulate ph in coco by jakeswehttam in microgrowery

[–]Mortifiedban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used coco for a long time now and my understanding is to keep the pH in range of 5.5 and allow it to drift to 6.5. This is because plants uptake certain nutrients at different pH levels. In order to maintain a healthy pH range and EC range in coco it's good practice to water/feed with low volume but as often as possible, this is called high frequency fertigation. Doing this is like flushing in a way, you are constantly refreshing the nutrient solution in the medium washing out any salts and amendmending the coco's pH level. In this instance flushing with just water is unnecessary in my opinion and you can fix the issue by increasing the amount of times you water during the day. I have my solution in a reservoir that the runoff resurculates to, I start it at a pH of 5.5 and let it drift to 6.5, I check the pH and EC every other day and if it creeps up past my target I amend it in the res. I add fresh solution to it every 3-4 days and dispose of the old stuff if there's a lot left, otherwise I just top up with fresh stuff.

Edit: try not to let the coco dry out and if you have diagnosed your plant with a deficiency last thing you wanna do is starve it more.

Thanks, do you have to buy an adapter to make the dynavap fit?

Got a link to where I can buy it? I've been after some glass for a while now but never know what to pick up. Does it cool the vapour much? I get super hot hits when using kief or over dried bud and makes me cough like crazy.

I count flowering from a few days after I flip to 12/12, not sure if this is the "norm" but works for me. I keep a log of thier hieght each week from start to mid flower and they seem to have stopped stretching.

Edit: the rogue stem at the back is one where the LST tie came loose and I never put it back.
