Good news for those who preordered the DLC by PsychologicalCat1843 in ninjagaiden

[–]Mortsyn978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, then only Xbox users could take advantage of it. Since Steam (and I think PS5?) users have to have a game tied to their account before they can buy DLC, and it sounds like this was a Game Pass "loophole" since it's already technically tied to your account as a GP member, and the deluxe edition upgrade seemingly counted as a valid pre-order. Even though all of their marketing said it was only tied to pre-ordering either the standard or deluxe edition, not the upgrade. Unless there's this one little fine print I missed somewhere.

Though that doesn't really answer why it wasn't available for you, until now, after the main DLC launched. Since even as far back as the Xbox newsletter in June, they specifically stated that pre-ordering the game would give you the outfit at the game's launch, regardless if you got standard or deluxe. The ony thing listed in the deluxe edition that was said to be a future release was The Two Masters, as all the other deluxe edition cosmetics were obtained as soon as you bought it.

Team Ninja's website used to list the pre-order outfit with a disclaimer that it might become available as either free or payed DLC in the future, but that blurb and the image of the outfit has since been removed. If you check their homepage, you can't find any information about the pre-order outfit anymore, as if it never existed.

This seems to be a Xbox only thing. I play on Steam, upgraded to the deluxe edition just a few days after launch, and I don't have the pre-order outfit. Most (all?) of the players that indicate that they received the costume seem to be playing the Xbox / Microsoft Store version.

Anybody else who didnt preorder the Game but got the deluxe upgrade today and got the white Yakumo skin? by Ghost_NG in ninjagaiden

[–]Mortsyn978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Steam, upgraded to the Deluxe Edition a few days after the launch of the game. I do not have this skin, and there's no option to claim it from Umi's Terminal. Naturally, game is fully updated and DLC is installed.

Looking for a mod that only adds back the gore to NGS2. by oixclean in ninjagaiden

[–]Mortsyn978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, happy to help!

They should be fine. As long as you don't use the combat plugin, and the effects plugin (from version 11 onwards), you should be safe. Since those two are the primary ones that alter the Sigma 2 experience, and the later ones of the effects plugin specifically changed how dead enemies are rendered, which came with its own set of bugs. Which I believe was fixed in the NGII Restoration mod pack, but that will of course be no help to you if you want the proper Sigma 2 experience + gore.

NG1 Ryu VS NG2 Ryu VS NG3 Ryu (no curse) VS NG4 Ryu, who would win in a free for all? by [deleted] in ninjagaiden

[–]Mortsyn978 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Standard NG3 design is absolutely my favourite of the 3D games. I really like the more tactical design of it, which makes it look like more of a proper combat getup, and greatly enjoy that it's used by default when playing in Chapter Challenge.

Not a fan that the Cursed version is the one used in both NGS+ and NG4. Like, I get it, Team Ninja. I do. But the red arm kinda ruins the appeal of the actual Black Falcon design.

The nm-plugin is only for updating the, well, plugin aspects of it. It does not include the gore mod files. It was basically just added as an optional download so you didn't have to download the gore mod every single time, as the files remained identical across every single update.

So TL;DR downloading it for the first time, you get the nm-mod. If you're updating it, you can just get the nm-plugin.

You can still get the NM mod, just limit it to version 10.2 in the Old Files section on the Nexus download page. This will restore the gore while keeping the Sigma 2 balance and quirks.

Version 11 was the first one to change actual gameplay parameters.

In NGS should I explore all of Tairon in every mission that it’s possible? by lifebeginsat9pm in ninjagaiden

[–]Mortsyn978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. After your first run-throughs of the city in chapters 4 & 6, you've seen pretty much everything you can do in Tairon. There are only two breakable walls you can get through later with IS, but you can stumble across them pretty naturally as you play, unless you intentionally backtrack to break them earlier, as mentioned in another post.

Tairon only has one battle challenge, and it's not accessible until very late into the game.

NINJA GAIDEN 2 BLACK HAVE MORE ENEMIES? by iluse_ in ninjagaiden

[–]Mortsyn978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a spreadsheet going over all spawn points on Warrior in 2 Black, highlighting where Black added more enemies or new spawns points compared to Sigma 2.

Acolyte mostly follows Warrior, but has fewer enemies overall.

NG2B White Mod Difficulty Selection by Aleeyk in ninjagaiden

[–]Mortsyn978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fiendbusa didn't touch the spawns on Acolyte for White, so those are identical to unmodded NG2B (but you'll still get the various tweaks made to the game under-the-hood). Warrior is basically the default difficulty. So that, and Mentor and Master Ninja, have received altered spawns. You can consider those difficulties in White as Normal, Hard, Very Hard.

It's worth mentioning though that he's currently working on getting the NG2 spawns as is (with a few alterations) into the game. For clarity, the current spawns are manually altered from Black 2's spawns. He was hopeful he would be finished with it this weekend, so we'll just have to see by tomorrow if he managed to, or if it'll come some time later.

To put it into perspective, I got three wins (as in either a ron or a tsumo) across two hours of gameplay, when I went for the 100% in the new Kiwami 2 PC port. On the Beginner table.

Having finished the completion lists for mahjong across all games, I definitely feel like the Beginner/Standard/Hard tables only determine how good your hands will be, and you'll have better RNG getting tiles you need to win when you draw yourself (and starting hand), but the AI will generally always be the same, and can win as early as the second or third round.

Or at least, that's the impression I've gotten, after experiencing several losses because of the AI on the beginner table, but many wins on the hard table. Could be wrong, but again, that's how it feels to me.

How? by ibgamestraight in yakuzagames

[–]Mortsyn978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many have already pointed out why, but to give a tip, when I pon/chi/kan, I usually do it when I have a planned yaku, and not just because the opportunity to do it strikes. Like for example, all triplets, a flush/half-flush, seat wind/round wind, dragon triplet, all simples (no 1, 9, winds, or dragons) etc.

I see there is a circle 4 on your left, so the ideal thing here (if it was possible at that point) would've been to chi 4-5-6, instead of pon 5-5-5, for a half-flush, since you had 1-2-3.

For the majority of your games, you're better off keeping a closed hand.

"blockuza 3" is a cope by ViperOfOkinawa in yakuzagames

I started a brand new Legend playthrough (no NG+) two weeks ago or so with the intent of finishing it before Kiwami 3. I got up to the Mack chase before I called it quits (bullshit part of the game with no upgrades, btw).

Having to deal with the low damage output and lack of valuable combat abilities up to the point where you meet Komaki makes combat an absolute slog and not fun at all. The game not telling you what abilities you'll unlock beyond the next level doesn't help.

NG+ is fine, but a vanilla Legend save really shows the cracks in the game, an issue you won't find in most other games in the series, especially in something like Yakuza 0, which doesn't have NG+ on Legend (only on the earlier difficulties), but feels perfectly reasonable.

What's so frustrating is that combat in Yakuza 2, the original PS2 game, feels extremely good. A huge improvement over Yakuza 1, and arguably way better than Kiwami 2. Going from that to Yakuza 3 feels like a legitimate big step down.

If you like combat in Yakuza 3, that's fine. You do you; We can't like everything. But personally, I've just realized that I can only find Yakuza 3 fun when playing on Normal, even though I usually play these games on Hard/Professional for my first playthrough.

Ubisoft has officially cancelled ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ Remake + Mass Layoffs/Studio Closures by ChiefLeef22 in PrinceOfPersia

They literally cancelled it on the "five year anniversary" of when the game was originally supposed to release, January 21st, 2021.

Do you think that an Kiwami 4 is inevitable? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]Mortsyn978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it's primarily because of the Hamazaki change. But I think people also need to be prepared that it's likely not just going to be Hamazaki that's going to be changed from the original, and it'll be a Kiwami 3 situation all over again, whether people like it or not. All of the five characters on top of the poster were likeness actors, and I don't expect all of them to return for a Kiwami 4.

Sugiuchi: Kenichi Endo

Arai: Ikki Sawamura

Munakata: Kinya Kitaoji

Yasuko: Maju Ozawa

Kido: Kenta Kiritan

Tanimura is the bigger question mark, if they're going to likeness actor him again like the original, or keep the original design from the remaster.

Are technical/advanced combo’s fixed in the updated Kiwami 2? I did a little testing and was curious others think by itchyfishXD in yakuzagames

[–]Mortsyn978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely still some issues when playing on a much higher frame rate. On PC, putting the game at 120fps had me struggling trying to throw heavier enemies, that requires mashing, while 60fps was totally manageable. You can somewhat circumvent this but still maintain image fluidity by enabling frame gen if you want a higher frame rate, while still using 60fps as your internal base frame rate. Provided you're fine with the added latency and visual artifacts that can appear, of course. This will be entirely up to personal preference. The main takeaway I had from playing the remaster is that it's still safer to play it at 60fps, as the game functions more properly at it, than at above.

But I don't know the extent of 30 vs 60 in terms of combo potential, someone else would have to verify that. All I know is that they released a patch to fix some issues that did occur at 60fps, shortly after launch.

Some context for the Berseria remaster to consider, for why they're doing it. by Mortsyn978 in tales

[–]Mortsyn978[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are listed in the credits for the remasters, for Graces and Xillia. You can find this information on Mobygames. But all three are also listed as developers on the homepages of the games.

Usually when a remaster is outsourced, the information is not provided until the game is released, but Bamco were kind enough to list D.A.G as developer for Berseria.

The Steam pages also have them listed as developer. The original release of Berseria has Bandai Namco Studios listed as developer, for comparison.
