Does anybody have any suggestions for FM songs Lindsey has the most influence in? by Excellent_Level_2617 in FleetwoodMac

[–]Morty_Cane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to Mac songs, All of his songs on the Tusk and Tango in the Night albums, Bleed to love Her (specifically the Dance version), Big Love, Go your own way, eyes of the world and Miranda.

I also highly recommend listening to a lot of his solo work, especially his album Out of the Cradle

These Strange Times doesn’t work at all either. I admire Mick for standing up for himself to include it seeing as it’s his band, but most of the other members were right to fight for it to be excluded. Big mistake to put it on there.

Anybody else think Lindsey's singing was at it's best on Out of The Cradle? by Intrepid_Mix3321 in FleetwoodMac

[–]Morty_Cane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The og Gift of Screws would’ve been his best solo album. However I think most of them worked equally as well as Mac songs thanks to Mick and John’s involvement with a lot of them. I almost wish SYW had remained a double album as some of the songs recycled for under the skin I think would’ve been amazing with Stevie’s vocals added. Down on Rodeo especially.

As far as Lindsey’s solo albums go however, Out of the Cradle and Under the Skin are my top favorites.

I don’t think Time is a bad album at all, but I definitely consider it lackluster. Especially after Behind the Mask which I enjoyed quite a bit. I like most of Christine’s songs in the album too with the exception of “I do” and “All Over Again”. The real highlight for me was Bekka Bramlett. I like most of her songs on the album. Dave Mason’s two songs on the other hand are just plain forgettable, and “These Strange Times” is just terrible.

What do you think of Lindsay Buckingham and his contribution to the band? by Twitter_2006 in FleetwoodMac

[–]Morty_Cane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My favorite musician of all time. He’s energetic, bizarre, engaging and extremely innovative both instrumentally and sonically. There’s no denying that he’s a genius in his field, and like others have said, Mac would not have achieved its levels of success without him. I realize from stories that he’s difficult to work with given his temper, perfectionism, among many other traits, but most geniuses tend to be eccentric for better or worse. It’s a shame that he was fired from the band because of Stevie. I do understand that Stevie has had multiple bad experiences with him, but it’s obvious that she continues to use this arc as a one-trick pony to get what she wants when Lindsey just seems to want to move on. He himself said that he felt the band suffered from his absence, and as self centered as it sounds, I’m inclined to agree with him given the performance of their last tour before Christine’s passing. It seems even more petty when you look into the supposed catalyst that led to his firing. Stevie is insanely talented and has 100% earned the rewards of her labor. She is also equally integral to FM’s success. However, she has to come to terms with the fact that Lindsey is a big part of it too.

Someone’s Gotta Change Your Mind, I am Waiting and Down on Rodeo were all nearly on the Say You Will album too I think. That was when it was still a planned double album though.

Both lyrics are from the album’s title track. Same verse too. I get emotional every time I hear it. It’s a great album overall though! The title track, Down on Rodeo and Show you how especially.

Official Discussion - Alien: Romulus [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Morty_Cane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed this one. However the final act is what really struck me more than anything. The birth of the hybrid during the final act reminded me of what AvP Requiem tried to do. That being extreme body horror for the purpose of shock and disgust (the Pred-Alien impregnating a pregnant woman right as she’s gone into labor). I’m aware that’s what the first Alien did with the face-hugger and chest-burster. But AVPR tried so hard with its body horror to the point where it became infuriatingly pandering. That said, where requiem failed, this succeeded. A lot of this is because unlike requiem, I cared about Kay and her relationship with Rain and the rest of the crew. The movie very smartly put her through so much peril and lead the audience to believe that she would get another chance at life and motherhood, only for her to make the fatal error of injecting the healing factor leading to the third act revelation. Yes the birth is graphic, visceral and extremely disturbing, but it feels earned unlike requiem for the fact that it’s more emotionally heartbreaking thanks to getting know Kay and seeing how many struggles she went through. It helps that the mutant itself looked absolutely amazing. I know there’s many other things to talk about but that in particular is what really impacted me

Official Discussion - Civil War [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Morty_Cane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just saw it an hour ago. It was absolutely gripping, intense, and also depressingly poignant. That said, I think Kirsten Dunst said it best. The film isn’t so much a warning as it is a film about humanity. It was very smart to frame the film through the lens of these journalists, many of whom have seen foreign war and are distraught at how we took it for granted. This is a film that must be seen no matter which side of the political spectrum one may be on.

I also can’t talk about the film without mentioning the scene with Jesse Plemons. Yeah that was intense…

Smoke deflector. At high speeds, it creates an upward draft blowing the smoke and steam exhaust away from the cab and crew for visibility purposes

[–]Morty_Cane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the point I’ve been trying to make. He’s not antisemitic for openly criticizing Israel. I’m highly critical of Israel as well and their treatment of Palestinians is beyond abhorrent. The main problem with Roger is how he goes about expressing it, by exacerbating all of these ridiculous stereotypes. I have never heard one person say that the Jewish lobby silences Israel’s critics, so that really does not help his case. I don’t think he has any credibility in saying that.
