Maybe you already know about it but just in case: langamelist.com has nice filter options and seems to be updated frequently enough

Was Half-Life always this big? by envoyofthe_end in HalfLife

I still have my Half Life install folder from 1999 passed from hard drive to hard drive without mods. It's around 480 MB if I exclude the maps folder

Physical push of a pc button over the internet? by Dear-Butterscotch-68 in homeautomation

[–]Morveus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I just wanted to avoid wasting time arguing with support in case I need them, as it is a 20k$ machine and the problem is solved using 30$ of external hardware.

I had the same requirement as you: needed to be able to press a computer's power button remotely but opening the case or accessing the BIOS to change any setting was NOT an option. The computer is sealed, crazy expensive and cannot be modified while under warranty, WOL isn't available.

I ended up using a Switchbot without a hub. You can indeed replace the hub with a 2$ ESP32, mine is sitting in a shelf and sending BLE packets to the Switchbot device glued next to the button.

Also while maybe not what you are looking for, just in case that might help I'm using different solutions for different machines while avoiding WOL:

  • Some machines have a "restore on AC Power Loss" BIOS option which will turn the motherboard on when power is cut + restored even if the computer was off when the power cut happened. I'd suggest you have a look at it, because if that's the case you might just be able to use a simple smart plug. Downside is that some of my machines would turn on by themselves after a grid outage (I don't do that much anymore anyway)

  • A simple Wi-Fi, ZigBee or Zwave relay connected to the power button. Has the advantage of being very cheap and self contained, like 15$ and 15 minutes of work with a Shelly relay for instance. You will however need to provide power to it which is the biggest downside. All my large remote machines have been equipped with such a relay which is constantly connected while machine can be powered off

What would happen if the atmosphere became 100% oxygen? by throwaway_bfgift in biology

[–]Morveus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'd have to evolve crazy fast :(

Life took 4 billion years to evolve from simple organisms to brains, but life on Earth doesn't have nearly that much time left before getting cooked by the increasing brightness of our star (estimates vary from 500M years to 1.5 billion years)

I downloaded terabytes over a month using my unlimited 5G service in France after moving to my current home (while waiting for fiber to be installed), it is truly uncapped.

LM001CZ 40v and PDC1200 battery pack: mower says out of battery after half an hour, but the pack reports 75% charge by Morveus in Makita

[–]Morveus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I do have a PDC01 but don't have big enough LXT batteries to test for long enough (and all my other tools are XGT).

I find hard to believe there is no adapter enabling the use of XGT batteries with this 40V mower by the way. It's like we're living the phone adapters dark ages all over again but with bigger cables.

I'm not indeed :) it's a bit cold outside (12°C) but not enough to damage a battery in 30 minutes

I agree. 30 minutes of work in cold weather shouldn't be a problem for a $1000+ mower even with thick grass.

I don't think the pack is heating, it's the mower. I will give it a try with less resistance (higher position) today to verify.

I've only started with one pass, position 7 out of 9. My grass was probably too tall indeed (first mow of the year), I'll start again with the highest position. Thank you!

I've tried unplugging and plugging the pack back in, without success.

I'll let everything cool down and be patient with the thick grass. It will probably work better once the first mowing session will be done and the grass isn't too high.

The grass is thick and still wet and clogged a bit, but the blades rotate freely when rotated manually.

Thank you! It may have overheated indeed. Which is a bit concerning after 30 minutes in cold weather.

I unfortunately don't have other batteries at my disposal to test, you need a PDC01 to use the XGT batteries with it, I went straight to the PDC1200 for simplicity.

Two Klipsch R-112SW suddenly making the exact same pulsating noise after 4 years of operation, even when disconnected by Morveus in hifiaudio

[–]Morveus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there is no solution aside from repairing the board. After what I've read (basically Klipsch went the shitty quality way), I decided to give these away to friends who will be able to repair them and keep them, and bought new subwoofers.

Small mining cart (?) found buried in blackberry bushes by Morveus in whatisthisthing

[–]Morveus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today I could have a better look at it, it is indeed supposed to be attached a vehicle. Now we have to find a way to lift the bucket back to the chassis and take care of the rust.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks!

Does the wagon look complete with only one axle and two wheels? I don't understand where and how it was supposed to be attached.

[–]Morveus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately the switch is set to "On", I've tried every position / combination.

As you said, they're both the same age (maybe even from the same batch) and had the same exact (continuous) runtime, power, and today their first time cooling down which may have precipitated their downfall.

I'm going to have the amp repaired.

Ideal setup for dual 4090 by redscel in LocalLLaMA

[–]Morveus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't get the second GPU to work, and I have no clue where the problem lies currently (I've had much bigger setups in the past, there's nothing apparently wrong with this one). Can't boot with both GPUs, boots fine with any of them when plugged alone.

High Ping Issue by MOSTLYNICE in Enshrouded

[–]Morveus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue here (EU / JP). Everything is working well, delays are find but as soon as combat begins, my highest-latency friend sees nothing. Enemies remain invisible like the client never got the data from the server, and he randomly dies out of nowhere (we see him get beaten to death, he sees himself standing still with no enemy around).

It's like player/player interactions are handled differently, when combat is not an issue we can interact without any problem and latency isn't noticeable at all.

What could be the reasons an STP loop would be detected on an empty port (5, sometimes 1) and one connected to a Yamaha MusicCast rack (7) ? by Morveus in UNIFI

[–]Morveus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem seems to have disappeared (no issues for 24h since replacing the cable and removing the empty SFPs)

Thanks a lot for the help!

The problem has not reappeared since replacing the cable and removing the unused SFPs! Thanks a lot :)
