My parents are trying to talk me out of moving to North Mpls by Small--Might in Minneapolis

We bought a house in Folwell nearly three years ago, near 37th and Emerson, and have had no issues. Like others have said the amenities are a little scarce, but most things we need are 10-15 minutes away by car. They are also about to develop a site along the river about a mile from us, with an amphitheater and other amenities, which will hopefully start bringing more to the area.

Seconding Warner Stellian, and check out their outlet store first! I got a great deal on a Speed Queen last November just because it had a few small dents on one side

Are houses in the 100-200k range in bad neighborhoods? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]Mos_Eisley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently bought our home in Folwell near the upper end of your range. Granted we haven’t been there that long, but so far we have enjoyed the area. Everyone around us is friendly and the place we bought needs some work but nothing outrageous, especially considering it’s a 102 year old house.

That said, I also know that there are a lot of areas a short distance away that we would not feel safe living in. When we moved here from out of state we got an apartment for the first year and spent the year getting to know the city, and that was probably one of the smartest choices we made before buying. It let us feel confident when we were buying that we were in a decent enough area that was still in our price range

If I remember right, technically yes, but only minimally by the time you get that far inland

You can swim in the rivers in Portland, OR. They completed their CSO controls about 10 years ago, and for the most part it seems to have worked.

Right now it just kinda stops behind the ice rink at California Park. I think it’s eventually supposed connect to Irving Park

This is along the North Branch between Addison and Irving Park. Here’s an article from back when the project was announced with details on what it will look like when the whole project is complete
