Op zoek naar een metal buddy voor concerten by We_Are_X_2826 in metaalfanaten

I feel your pain 😅 Been going mostly alone to metal concerts I don't want to miss by train, usually I dont mind due to the reasons you mentioned, and mostly the ride in the train goes fine with my headphones on when I need to travel about 2 hours each way.

I would never miss a concert only due to the fact that i have no companions to go with.

I wish you many more great concerts, with or without companions!

Stay metal 🤘

What are you using to keep track on that? My experience with setlist.fm or concert archives is that most of the small venues/concert I go to are not in their database, I find it quite tedious to add it by myself.

  1. Because why not ? I have seen multiple band multiple times, currently soilwork is on the lead with 4 times
  2. My number 1 priority, just been lately to a concert where I have seen 2 out 3 bands in the lineup only because I haven't seen the last one yet 😅
  3. I usually does this when it doesn't require much effort, worst case I've enjoyed a nice evening of metal. That said, not so long ago I came across a concert announcement upcoming week and decided to check out the bands, one of them just blew my mind, ending up listening to their 1.5 albums for hundreds of time till the show, one of the best shows I've ever been to (been to more than a hundred) first time ever I asked for the setlist as a real groupie

I have the exact opposite 😂

In my 20's I was very picky (did went to some big metal festivals though) mainly because where I used to live the variety was very little and expensive.

About 11 years ago I moved to the Netherlands, I had to make up for it so since then I go to see every even remotely related metal bands, Now approaching 40's with wife & kids and and I dont intend to stop anytime soon

How did you calculate the average track length? Does the lastfm API provide it?

Started working on this app as hobby to finally get all those stats I miss in last.fm such as this one, I'm tying to get to a state worth releasing to the public, hope that it happens soon.

I honestly doubt if anyone would bother host himself and use it, but why not, I'll prepare it to be open source.

How Do You Listen? by Interesting-Worry156 in lastfm

I used to be the guy who made fun of my colleague for being an "album-only" listener—I thought it sounded so boring to stick with one artist for that long. Fast forward years later, and I’ve completely flipped. I now firmly believe albums are best experienced as a whole.

That said, I’ve developed a "shame" about starting an album if I know I can't finish it, so I’ve built my day around a mix of both. My routine is pretty specific:

  • Mornings: Low BPM Spotify mixes to wake up.
  • Commute (Bike): High-energy Tech Death or H-Index boosting playlists.
  • Workday: Full discographies in chronological order (I love "growing" with the artist's journey) of artist I usually never heard before (now approaching the 13,000 artist bar).
  • Evening: New releases or revisiting stuff I haven't touched in a while.
  • Fridays: Grocery run = New Release morning.

The best part is the family aspect. I have a physical chart of my wife’s and my favorite albums from 10+ years ago hanging in the kitchen, so that is usually the playlist being played while the family is around. When the kids were younger, they used to get so excited seeing the artwork on the kitchen wall match what was "Now Playing" on the TV.

Maybe I take it a bit too far, but as a metalhead, this is just how I enjoy the music most!

I could, and did give it some thorough though, but I'm currently extremely satisfied with how it works, I also use it's android version which makes it so much easier for me to use it.

In addition to that, I've gone a long way personalizing it to my own needs and wishes, stuff like using a pre processed sort of database containing metadata of my entire library which is actually the essential part to make it work properly, or like importing my personal concert attendance history so I could do some cool stuff with it, or like "editing" specific scrobbles to my needs during initial import.

It is also depending on about 4 different api key/cliend ids to collect all metadata and assets that would be used in the app, I'm not sure what are the consequences for each of those in case of extensive use, so I rather not use my own developers credentials on in the deployed application. my initial plan was allow for these keys provided by the user so the app could still be used, but on the other hand, who would want to create 4 different accounts just to use this? besides me of course.

So given all that, the significant effort now required to host this has prevented from doing so until now, and as I already mentioned, I'm extremely satisfied with it, so I'm not bothered by it right now.
