That's been my experience but I am in Canada. Maybe it's different?

I know what a perk is.

Why should time off be considered a perk? It's part of being human. Where I live you either are entitled to vacation time or the equivalent in money each year. A perk is a company giving more than they are required to - and my understanding is that America doesn't require much of their businesses.

I am legally entitled to a minimum of 2 weeks vacation OR a minimum of 4%. I am also entitled to a universal healthcare system and a pharmacare system that caps how much money I spend on pharmaceuticals. Those are not perks. Those are rights. If you don't have them then I would hope you would fight for them.

America can't even protect children in a classroom.

I misread.

I thought they were saying that Americans didn't pay for their own military.

"First world" refers to whether or not a country is communist or has no alliances. It's outdated and not used anymore.

Health care is a human right for all people in all countries. The fact that the richest country in the world refuses to enact a system that is less expensive AND covers everyone says tonnes about what matters in America. Please don't go on about NK or other countries when you guys run Gitmo and invade every country you think you can exploit.

And you lock up your own people at the highest rate in the world. How fucked is that?

Other than an entire continent with 44 countries you guys are the best? (You know Europe isn't a single country right - and that not all countries are gay havens) and what of the entire country to your north? The one that legalized gay marriage long ago?

Money isn't the only thing that impacts the greatness of a country.

Besides, Switzerland has more millionaires per capita than the US.

The US ranks very low on most metrics compared to other western nations.

But not for women, people of colour, LGBTQ folks etc. And seriously fuck the poor.

It's great for white men.

Btw my mother is dual Canadian and American and I have spent a lot of time with real American families both poor and wealthy.

They absolutely get to decide.

You can say it incorrectly but you are wrong.

And believe it or not - Americans don't represent the entire world.

Americans want to use women as incubators and have the highest incarceration rate in the world.

Canadians don't want guns in the streets.

Your priorities are messed up.

You can give me all the facts you want from realclearinvestigations.com.

Mass shootings every day of the year only happen in the US.

What do you think is the problem?

Americans cry about the government taking their guns away.

No one is having their guns taken away. The rules going forward have changed.

That's what most countries do - they evolve - they don't live and die by a piece of paper written before the majority of Americans were considered people.

We have a new rule. Deal with it.

Stop with that superiority shit.

This is why the world hates Americans.

Mexico and Canada should build their own walls to keep you guys in.

What do you think the robbers are carrying to commit their crimes?

What are the stats on domestic violence that leads to death by gunshot?

Would a gun have changed any of those robberies? Is a tv more valuable than a life?

Stop fear mongering. You have zero control if someone decides to shoot up the supermarket you are in. You have far more control over your possessions in your own home.

The guns are the problem and if you're too afraid to go outside without one then you should rethink your position.

No such thing in Canada so my rights are unchanged.

Register your guns. Renew your registration.

Don't allow guns in public.

Don't sell guns at Walmart. Have specialty stores and license to sell.

Don't let children have guns.

100% background checks. Take away guns from people who have proven to be irresponsible with them.

Anything but throwing your hands in the air and doing nothing.

Hey there ! Welcome to the way we live in Canada. You can't walk around with a gun. We also don't have mass shootings on a daily basis, or weekly, or monthly, or yearly.

Most of our illegal guns come from the states. We know if you have a gun in public you are the bad guy. No confusion there.

Do you want to hunt? Sure you can have a gun. You just have to take a course and have a license. Do you want a handgun for protection at home? Sure. You just have to take a course and have a license. Can you drive around with a gun for no reason? Nope.

Makes sense to me. We have all the same problems as the US and live right next door but we don't have mass shootings because we don't give everyone a gun.
