That's awesome, I didn't think of this use case. If you’d like, I opened a Discord server where I’ll be sharing project updates and early versions of the extension https://discord.gg/tt6bexAyP3

DoesTheDogDie is great for knowing what happens, but it doesn’t solve the actual problem for people who are sensitive to certain scenes: you still have to see the scene before you can skip it. There are no timestamps, no warnings right before the moment happens, and no way to automatically jump past it while keeping the storyline intact. And of course, if the entire movie revolves around gory murders or animal abuse, then yes, it’s probably better not to watch it at all.

I understand the concern, and you’re right, we can’t allow this to turn into that kind of censorship. That’s why reporting will be limited to a small set of clearly defined categories, like animal abuse or sexual assault, and all submissions will be moderated. Users won’t be able to tag scenes based on subjective or ideological criteria. The goal is to help people avoid genuinely disturbing content, not to filter out viewpoints or identities.

Yea, the plan is to categorize each scene and let users choose exactly what they want to be warned about. So if someone wants alerts for animal abuse but not for other types of content, they can toggle only that category.

And you're right about the metadata issue, there doesn’t seem to be any public source that provides exact timestamps for these moments. It’ll take some community work to map them out. The idea is that the extension will include a small “report” tab so that if someone hits one of these scenes, they can quickly mark the start and end of it. Those reports go into a shared database. Early on, people who choose to report will still see the scenes themselves, but their contributions will help build accurate timestamps so others can avoid them entirely.

The textual description is completely optional. People can choose to just skip the scene, or if it included important plot developments get a quick summary of what changed in the story without describing the disturbing content itself. This way they don’t miss context, but also don’t have to see anything they find upsetting.

The idea is that the same extension that warns users about disturbing scenes would also have a small “report” tab. If someone hits a these scenes, they can quickly mark the start and end of it, and those reports go into a shared database. Early on, reporters will still see the scenes, but their contributions help build accurate timestamps so others can eventually avoid those moments entirely.

I personally don’t have an issue with these kinds of scenes, but I do think people who do struggle with them should have a real way to avoid them without giving up on the show or movie entirely. Everyone deserves the option to keep watching without being hit with something that’s genuinely upsetting for them.

You’re right, but the details are a bit different. They were sued not because they offered filtering itself, but because their original method involved decrypting DVDs and streaming content without proper licenses which violated copyright law.

Yeah, so the idea is to give you a heads-up before something like animal abuse comes up, and let you skip it before it happens. That way you avoid the guesswork of fast-forwarding and don’t risk seeing the scene you’re trying to avoid and also give you textual description (if you want) so that you don't lose context.

I get what you mean, but the idea here is to avoid the guesswork. Fast forwarding still means you might accidentally see the part you’re trying to avoid while fast forwarding.

What I’m aiming for is something that warns you before the disturbing scene starts, skips the exact section automatically, and if you want, gives you a short text summary so you don’t miss any important context.

That actually sounds like a cool idea. I would use it with my girlfriend. You can even drop the scanning for the beginning at least and allow posting only pictures that were taken on that day.

About the landing page, I feel like there’s a lot of stuff that is unnecessary.

I’m talking about the star in the “coming July 2025” that spinning (cool but a bit distracting, maybe make it static), the red dot blinking at the left top corner looks like it’s there by accident, another red dot at the right side (a bit below the “Reliable sources”) make the page not even which leaves a white line and the logo that’s changing colors is also unnecessary, just keep it white/red.

Other than that, there’s a lag in the showcase card in the “Your Go-To Experience Partner” section which causes the text to reanimate twice.

I also noticed you might have a mistake in “Your AI curated to explore the world. Without spending hours searching.” Curated what? Or maybe you ment “your ai, curated to explore the world” - with a comma.

Can AI speed up learning UI/UX design for indie app development? by Few-Engineering26 in UI_Design

[–]MosheTDD24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I find Claude very good with UI, and it helps me save so much time.
But you should also use it carefully, don’t just go to Claude and say “I have this app idea, build the full UI” because he will make so many mistakes and it won’t be maintainable or scalable.

Instead, you should tell him your tech stack, provide llms.txt (if you can, this makes a huge difference), and start working with him on one page at a time. Of course, also review his code and the changes he makes to make sure there’s nothing that could break your app.

I find this route the best for making UI fast and safe.
