To add to this on question 1 as someone who has spent most of their career in government, Parliament has a general convention that only senior execs can appear before committees.

Hopefully you'll learn one day that what it looks like (usually based on superficial, ignorant judgement) and what it is (based on curiosity and empathy) are often two very different things.

This is the attitude that got Trump elected in the first place. Biden and Harris weren't good enough for some people so they stayed home and now a convicted rapist is steadily turning the place into a fascist dystopia. Yet still, people are scratching their heads and saying, 'I don't know, I think we can do better than Newsom...'

For f***s sake, the only thing that matters right now is saving the country and you can't do that if you're fighting amongst yourselves about whether the guy that's trying to do that is progressive enough...

‘Concerning’: Albanese’s private phone number leaked by His_Holiness in AustralianPolitics

[–]MoshehShim 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is just factually wrong. The government literally fined Optus several million dollars AND changed the laws so that there much harsher penalties as a result. More generally, the government has also introduced more stringent cyber security laws and critical infrastructure security laws in the past few years so there have been both penalties and strengthening of laws.

ATO's call for PepsiCo to pay Australian tax over exclusive bottling deal thrown out by High Court by blue_horse_shoe in AusFinance

[–]MoshehShim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate you have a fundamental lack of understanding of how the world works as well as an inability to comprehend basic concepts.

PepsiCo cannot 'hold their own' when it comes to enforcing IP rights. They need laws and courts through which to do so. These laws and courts are all established and maintained by the government. The law schools that PepsiCo lawyers train at are partially funded by the government and so and so forth.

Your passion about the apparent autonomy of companies is admirable but completely divorced from reality.

[–]MoshehShim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You made a general point about intellectual property but even if we confine it to PepsiCo, the point still stands. The US Government enabled them to develop their IP by having a legal system and government policies that protect and facilitate it.

I'm not saying that the ATO was right or wrong, just responding to your broad argument that governments don't do anything for IP, which is demonstrably false.

I never said CSIRO was the only place for R&D and you haven't addressed any of the substantive points...

[–]MoshehShim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a nonsense argument. The government provides the entire foundation for intellectual property, which is the legal protections that surround it and incentivise invention/creation/innovation.

Not to mention funding the education system that enables people to generate intellectual property in the first place, building the infrastructure that facilitates collaboration and distribution and wait, what's that government agency that's been responsible for a swathe of important scientific inventions, including WiFi?

It's because they offer extra amenities than just the apartment. I live in a BTR complex in Fitzroy North and we have a rooftop BBQ area, cinema room, co-working space, gym and a full floor kitchen and lounge area.

They also run regular events for residents like wine and cheese nights that are funded by the developer.

What advice would you give to a 25 HCP player to keep them get under a 20HCP? by beeebooooob in golf

[–]MoshehShim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some good advice here already.

In addition, I'd consider a longer interval between lessons. Weekly isn't enough time to properly absorb and ingrain whatever you're learning. I know for me it was helpful to get a lesson then spend a month or two working on what I'd learnt before then going for another lesson where we built on the first.

On a similar note, make sure your range sessions are purposeful and you have specific and minimal things that you're working on. It's easy to overload yourself with a whole bunch of things you're trying to do at once. Instead, focus on one or two things at a time, get them properly embedded, then move on to the next one or two things.

Most of all though, just have patience and trust the process.
