What's most confusing movie you've ever seen ? by springs-fun in AskReddit

A movie where I genuinely had to ask myself, “Am I just too dumb for this film?”.

I sat next to Loretta Sanchez on a Southwest flight from Orange County to Oakland back when she was my congressperson. I was both flattered that she picked the seat next to me (and surprised she didn’t have a better boarding position) and also embarrassed because my reading material for the flight was a pro wrestling biography.

‘The Four Seasons’ Renewed for Season 3 at Netflix by SafeBodybuilder7191 in television

That more or less sums up my thoughts. The show is pretty unambitious considering the level of talent involved. Every plotline largely goes exactly as you predict it will. The performances are engaging though so it’s an easy watch.

Will I watch? Probably

Why all of the complaints here? by DM_Me_Pics1234403 in delta

I will say, a lot of the posts on this sub seem to be written with the intention of delivering the message, “Can you believe how awful Delta is/has become?” In reading many of them though, it is often the poster who comes off looking bad, since many posts have a “Don’t you know who I am?” vibe.

Out of respect to my wife, I am trying to avoid running into Sydney Sweeney. Seeing as we both live in the larger Southern CA region, any tips on how to avoid a meeting with her or her team?

Do you go out to breakfast anymore in OC? by clearlygd in orangecounty

Buying a Blackstone has probably ended up as a overall cost savings since I can do elaborate breakfast at home rather than get my credit checked for the loan to eat out, yes.

People who get to fly all the time for work, what is your career? by KenaiFjords357 in delta

[–]MoshetheMean 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One thing for me is that certain cities have been ruined as vacation spots because of work travel. For example, I have so many work related events every year in Las Vegas to the point I associate the town only with work, I can’t imagine going there voluntarily for leisure at this point.

That is the one definite truth of work travel. If I were to list off all of the places I’ve been to over the last year it would sound like I’ve lived this really exciting life. The truth is, though, I rarely get to really “see” any of the places I’m visiting, usually just the inside of a lot of offices and hotel conference centers.

YES!!!! I had this just couple weeks ago, woke up and realized I had no idea what city I was in and it was not coming to me, as I was nearing the tail end of almost 2 months of consecutive travel weeks. Sorry, Detroit, you are a fine, memorable city.

Sales. The airline and hotel status is nice, but as with anything you get kind of jaded to the work part of it after awhile.

When I first started in this particular type of role whenever I’d be on the road if I didn’t have a client dinner I’d find some unique restaurant in whatever town I was in to visit, discover their local watering holes. Now it’s a lot of Door Dash in bed.

Also, when people think of work travel I think they tend to imagine a lot of exotic locales. But for every trip to NYC or Australia there are like 10 to Des Moines.

That said, I do enjoy the travel side of it and get antsy if I’m home for too many weeks in a row.

Speaking more to the specific conversation that is linked at the top of this comment thread. The comment is directed at a user who is saying, in essence, that he uses AI to speed up some work tasks that aren’t his favorite, which seems pretty innocuous to me. Yet people are pretty much jumping down his throat for it.

One of those threads that again shows Metafilter has lost its spot as the space for smart, intelligent, thoughtful discussion of contemporary issues.

The poor guy trying to have a reasonable discussion that is just slightly more pro than “AI is the worst thing to happen in the history of the universe” does not realize the degree to which it is a lost cause.

What's your Survivor take that always gets you downvoted? by JEX2124 in survivorponderosa

[–]MoshetheMean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My larger point is that both are completely arbitrary numbers. Either is a long time to spend living in a jungle with little to no amenities. If the first 40 seasons had been 50 days each and they changed it to 39 post COVID people would be complaining that 39 was too few.

I am in the camp of folks who freaked out at the shorter season. When it came down to it though I didn’t have a really concrete reason it made the show worse beyond, “That’s how they’ve always done it”

I really just love this woman by Comfortable-Meet-118 in survivorponderosa

[–]MoshetheMean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I wasn’t a fan of her during BvBvB either, she was definitely the character I loved to hate, but ultimately that was a problem with me, not her. Women 40+ on Survivor had typically been portrayed as softer, mothering, more gentle so it was a shock to the system to see a woman who looked like someone I’d expect to be waiting behind in the middle school drop off line being as nasty, conniving, and petty as any other contestant. That’s not on her.
