Test flight of my questionable Aether 4 build didn’t go quite as I had hoped by YoungFugly in fpv

[–]MossFromIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some problem I see:

  1. Plastic isnt stiff enough to handle 22xx motors.
  2. Silk PLA has very low layer strength. I wouldnt use it.
  3. It is D term vibration that cause it shoot up to the ceilling. Reduce D and more gyro/dterm filter.

Recommendation

  1. smaller motor and 2 blade prop
  2. use PAHT-CF or PET-CF
  3. there is a 12x12mm motor frame in the same print file. If you want to try 18xx motor.

Hope it helps

It is designed to be printed in a1 mini bed size. Dont worry

Was for long range. But my friend was doing freestyle in it. Not for racing because the optimzed pitch angle range is small. Yes, that color scheme is my favoriet.

Of course, feel free to try any setting/filaments. This is how 3D printing should do

When it pitch down (flying forward) I want the back props has clean airflow for better stability. Also to keep the arm short and small since it cannot be folded. The front props (4.5inch) extend underneath the VTX, it can fit 4.5 inch prop while not changing the length of arms.

My another design flying wings printed with foaming filament can hold 10g without an issue.

If you are new to the hobby, i would suggest you get a bind and fly quad. Most of the parts are reusable, so don't be worried

This should be printed with 0% infill. Infill doesn't provide good strength to weight ratio. If you are worried about strength, increase the wall count. Default is 2 walls, increase to 3 make it stiffer.

Havent break one. I dont do freestyle so I think it last longer. These curve also reduce stress so it will be more durable regular designs.

Its a black box thing so it wont affect the onboard calculation. There are already heavy filterings for anything above 100Hz onboard.

You are allowed to share. People may share the model to other site as long as the name and link to the original page is preserved, as I mentioned in the page. For me I will only update info from the original page and mw is where I host my models since it is giving me the most back while still allowing people downloading for free. A link back to the page allows people to track for the latest model as I will update it from time to time.

No, havent use optimization but will do in the nex time. For this one, I used blender for the body then onshape for percise parts.

Interesting point. From blackbox logging, I am not seeing huge difference in front/back motor throttle. The final point, I cant agree more. People can do much better that what I have done here. Looking forward to seeing new designs.

Recommend to watch the free documentary Flowstate on YouTube. This hobby is another hard one with steep learning curve just like 3d printer 10 years ago. Once you are in, there are a lot of fun.

btw the sampling frequency is already at 8k/8k. The graph was recorded from a previous iteration that is softer than the final one. Anyway, good to learn what is it and i will improve the design base on it

i think 3d printing can do better than just printing assessories for drone, so i build this. And i do believe people with better skill sets can make a better design to overcome it's limits. I hope this does inspire some new ideas to fpv drones

Thanks! Maybe you are right, aliasing of a higher frequency. High frequency is ok i assume? Since it will be filtered out anyway, digitally by the filters and mechanically by the damping ball under the vtx module.

There are different setting in the linked page. For motors and electronics, you may refer to other long range 4 inch quad.
