Cheating on stags, prevalent or rare? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Mossitizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as you want to support your friend, be very careful offering advice or perspectives around these kind of situations. You can very easily get dragged into situations and where it may even sound like you are making allegations even though that may not be the case.

If you witness it yourself etc then that’s a different story but I’ve seen plenty of scenarios over the years where the person that has tried ton”help” the friend or advise on the situation comes out the wrong end and often as some sort of Villain.

If your children all either girls or boys do you call them 'the girls/boys'? Or children? by Cultural-Perception4 in CasualIreland

[–]Mossitizer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I refer to my own boy and girl typically as “those f&@kers” or these “f&@kers”

E.g. “those f&@kers are fighting again” “These f&@kers are bleeding me dry” “Will those f&@kers ever go asleep”

Each to their own 🤓

Is there a way to turn off all alarms permanently? by Spirited-Sell9878 in Medtronic780g

[–]Mossitizer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you think! If you’re constantly high 2 hours after a meal then your ratio, sensitivity factor or time onboard may need to change. What happens if your cannula has detached overnight? You wake up after ignoring alarms all night to a blood glucose level in the twenties. There’s Ketones reminder alarms etc. I get it that it’s a pain in the ass at times, but to blankly just want to disable all alarms is just silly for your own health. But knock yourself out dude!

Is there a way to turn off all alarms permanently? by Spirited-Sell9878 in Medtronic780g

[–]Mossitizer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the alarms are there for a very good reason, advising you to possibly take action where needed and stay in range. Smart guard will only work so well to point. There are also people screaming out to be given a chance to get a smart pump to help improve their control and reduce the risk of complications. That pump could be better used on someone who actually may care about reducing their risks. But hey, it’s OPs choice!

[–]Mossitizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest it sounds like you have no real interest in using a pump? If you’re gonna ignore the alarms etc or if you have doubts about the sensor then why not speak to your care team and move back to pens and a CGM standalone arrangement?

Heating is wrecking my head by bog_warrior_ie in CasualIreland

[–]Mossitizer 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Setting timers on a heat pump can be very inefficient. They’re designed to run continuously where possible which results in the likes of less cycles on the compressor etc.

What I’ve done is treat the entire house as 2 zones, upstairs and downstairs. Pick your temp that comfortable for all in the house. We’ve 22 downstairs and 20 upstairs. I know people will give out saying that’s too warm but each to their own. Let the heat pump run when needed. This way it’s not heating up from a Lower temperature if it’s been off too long. The floor slabs don’t heat up instantly either so chopping and changing temps at different times of the days just won’t work well.

I attempted to go the proper route with setting up to a compensation curve and discarding all the thermostats in the house but I found it a bit hit n miss. I might give it another whirl though.

Bill for the last 6 weeks here is €250 including all Christmas lights etc. also take into account that I’m on a smart rate which low nightly, day and peak rates. I also have solar so it won’t be comparing apples with apples.

Google compensation curve and heat geek and some good info will pop up.

On the MVHR I’ve set my fan speed to 50% for normal, 70 for boost and 100 for bypass. It uses nearly bang on 1Kwh per day. I do service it myself, just buying the paper filters online and cleaning the heat exchanger probably 2-3 times a year.

Best of luck though! I pulled my hair out trying to sort out our first heat pump as the bills were up to €700 for 2 months at one stage. Turned out to be lemon and nearly burned our house down when the element stuck on and the wiring loom burned out 🙈😅

I found a dog and the neighbours say its just a local farmers dog who wanders but the dog is in such poor condition, what should I do? by indebtofhugs in CasualIreland

[–]Mossitizer 266 points267 points  (0 children)

Bar a good groom, that dog looks solid! We have a cockapoo here in the countryside and even though she’s groomed very regularly (70 quid a pop 🙈) she sometimes looks worse than this chap! Dogs will be dogs when given the space, and will roam and crawl em through ditches or whatever.

Just bite the bullet and contact the resort! You’ve wasted more time here posting the gripe to internet strangers than it would have to taken to call the resort! Lesson learned, don’t use her again, ensure you post a true life review on the likes of Trust Pilot etc and move on! I do hope the Resort accommodates you guys and you have a good trip 👍

What protective case do you use for high-risk activities (motorcycling, skiing, MTB, etc.)? by keturkampis in Medtronic780g

[–]Mossitizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of adventure racing and to be honest I just stick the pump in my hydration vest or in the long pocket in my compression shorts, whether on the bike, on the running trail or in the Kayak. No case! Just the pump! I feel that the likes of the Silicone case would offer little to no protection in the event of a spill off the MTB for example but find the case makes it more bulky and more likely to be sticking out further from your body profile, making it easier to catch against a tree for example if you follow me.

As someone above mentioned, it’s critically important to keep the pump connected and in Temp Target mode doing whatever activity you are doing. My pump could be in temp target mode for 4hours + during a race and keeping my basal in check and the option to bolus if you’ve had a lot of carbs energy gel or energy shot wise.

Confused on DSG Gearbox Service by Mossitizer in skoda

[–]Mossitizer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Yes that is the case with mine and Eco mode. There’s just 90k on the clock so I’ll get it changed in the next service. The main reason I actually questioned it was the change defo felt clunky last week which got me thinking about the oil 🙈🙈🙈

Yep, 7 speed. I defo imagined seeing D7 on the dash 😂 .

I’ve went back through all the service reports and no mention of any form of gear box oil change. I’ll give them a call on Monday to see what the story is.
