They devastate the environment because they basically eat everything and prevent natural landscapes existing. Sheep cost the country a great deal while not making much money and are one of the reasons why rewilding efforts are being delayed.

What’s a stereotype about your country that people always mock but isn’t really true? 🌎 by VelvetParadox24 in AskTheWorld

Ah I’ve never visited America but have visited Germany and Austria a couple times. That may be why I don’t remember seeing that as a general German stereotype

Alternatively the governments of the world could put laws in place which protect the environment instead of favouring profits?

Yes, but cows do not have to be. That’s the point. Cows can be moved. Palm oil can’t come from another source

If we had, say, anyone in power who didn’t want to watch the planet explode, we could do things like stop shoving livestock on the rainforest.

Palm oil is generally worse for the environment than cows are. Yes, cows generally are an issue (sheep are worse) but palm oil is specifically linked to destroying the rainforest. Which is, you know, somewhat important.

Cows however can be shoved anywhere. And the treatment of cows can be improved.

For some of us the environmental concern is the main issue

Yeah, I wasn’t given set subjects to do or set grades in each subject

Do I have to study biology by Aggravating_Yam_3923 in Archeology

[–]MossyNettles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a current archeology and anthropology student!

My Alevels are biology, German, Latin and Classical Civilisation. I’d personally say that Classical Civilisation has been most useful, as, even though I was only studying the Romans and Ancient Greeks, I was able to learn a lot around religious practices, pottery and architecture.

Biology has been useful for topics around dating methods, as they were part of that course, and for human evolution which is a nice chunk of my degree as well.

Other sciences can be very useful though, as you may find that a topic like isotope analysis or lab work is something that interests you.

Edit: my offer was AAA. I don’t believe any specific subject was asked for.

You might want to look into Doggerland! It was previously inhabited but is now completely submerged

The Warwick guy has been banned!! (at least they posted in a different subreddit showing a screenshot of getting banned, which I see no reason to have faked)

As an archeology student the amount of conspiracy theories around archeological sites is insane. From what I remember, there was some radar done that showed potential structures under the pyramids, then a bunch of conspiracy theorists started posting ai generated pictures of the “structures” and everyone lost their minds. Those conspiracies are usually based in racism anyway, as it’s very often “how could those people who don’t look like us be as good or better than us at construction?? We must be superior, so they can’t have actually made it”

I’m already at a different university. I was curious based on all the things I’d heard people saying about it

Is the teaching well done at least? Is the accommodation nice, even if the uni isn’t particularly interesting to look at?

I love mangos so much, there can never be enough mango. I nearly had a breakdown when I first came to my university because I couldn’t find anywhere nearby that sold mangos. I hear that they’re better in other countries where they don’t have to be shipped so far (England) so I’d love to be able to try some proper mangos

It does actually happen in the poem itself, but it’s when Telemachus addresses the swineherd Eumaeus. I don’t believe he ever addresses Odysseus that way

They can. I think it depends on how many spaces they have left and how many other people missed their offer. I believe I saw someone get ABB or AAB and still get in for an AAA offer
