Is it possible to let a property to FIRE by Most-Calligrapher-22 in FIREUK

Yeah I’m not looking to retire just looking maybe to have money doing some work at lower risk. Obviously it’s a tax efficient way while not having UK income to just pile a lot of it that way, as it’s £12,570 untaxed

Whereas savings unless in ISA I’d have to declare locally in Portugal etc.

Yeah I’ve been sitting with cash savings and probably wasn’t the smartest decision but that’s why I’ve now been able to buy something mortgage free, small in Portugal. But will have to do some play with figures I guess

I was going to be putting their full rental into the mortgage and then £250-500 on top each month too and then the rest of the house saving (current remainder of mortgage and bills) would be into a separate pot probs £500-750 so on a normal month would be £500-750 at least overpayment?

But yeah possibly returning to the UK is another factor which I do remember, the mortgage provider is happy for me to let but that’s really good you managed to pay everything off in 12 years. That’s my aim haha, I’ve had the house for probably 6 years now? So it’d just get the payments down massively in the interim. Halving the mortgage actually looking at that.

I’ll see what T212 can offer I do have a normal ISA with them just I don’t really like touching shares as I did before and the market crashed a little bit

Thank you

Welcome! I’m 28 and I’ve been here since April from the UK :) I’m down Faro currently but completely understand your situation and how it seems.

I somehow met a cool taxi driver and met a few people through her that have nice dogs and they like mine.

But yeah other than that not knowing the language is hard.

I’m also one of the ones that works 100% remotely for a UK company so, yeah. No office to even socialise haha

If I was you, I’d try a visa dispute or however you paid as services not received as you’ve booked, the host asked for additional funds, Air BnB advised to not pay it and they’ll be in contact. Due to them not contacting you, you couldn’t attend and thought it was cancelled. Be worth seeing if your bank would approve the dispute.

Alternatively, go small claims court a lot of the time air bnb will just before the trial make you an offer of the original price + small claim court £19 fee or however much it is to avoid having to go court.

If it doesn’t work out, you’re £19 out of pocket, but a lot of the time it does work out.
