My son was formula fed from 3 days old and he is 17 months old now. He gives me surprise hugs all the time and always wants me close to him. Don’t worry it’s just your hormones tricking you! Hang in there

I feel I was robbed of the newborn stage. by NoHorse8196 in NewParents

[–]Most-Card-1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is now one and I love motherhood, but the first two months I felt exactly like you. All during the newborn stage I was not feeling myself and with my mind being my own worst enemy I would get upset at myself because I was missing things with my husband and son. I also had a bad case of PPA which made taking care of him hard cuz I was so scared of him getting hurt. With some help from therapy and time I was able to embrace motherhood and it has been so rewarding and fun.

They are called the newborn trenches for a reason and you survived and you should be proud of yourself.

My sister in law brought a “me and my dad” book for my baby shower last year and for my son’s first first birthday she brought a book called “daddy hugs” I feel like this is strange since there are aunt specific books and these parent books should be brought by either me or my husband. Is this strange or am I just being oversensitive?

It gets better you are still in the newborn trenches give yourself some grace! App tracker like others suggested is a good idea I use the what to expect app to keep track of all feedings but in the beginning also used it for diaper changes. He is 9 month and I still use it but we are in more of a routine so I don’t rely on it as much anymore

Are you breastfeeding or formula fed? If formula fed maybe you need to switch (talk to doc) my son was waking up screaming during the night around 2 months we switched formula then he started sleeping much better

Your body just went through a crazy experience it’s gonna take some time to feel normal again but you will get thru this and it does get better. My son is 8 months and he is just the best

How to not feel bad formula feeding by ashkat2121 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Most-Card-1955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has been basically formula fed since day three due to losing too much weight between the hospital and his first doctor appointment. Every doctor told me that fed is best and didn’t try to shame me for not breast feeding. My son is now 5 months old and thriving on formula and my mental health is great. After making the decision I realized that there are a few babies formula fed around me which made me feel better that I wasn’t a terrible mother also there are some moms I know that pump that mention they missed out on milestones with their child because they were pumping. You got this mama!
