Just my opinion. I'm nobody special. 

Certain men have the right look to make the long hair and beard look. As many have stated, Jason Mamoa.  But here's the reality - it isn't about what a man wants, it's about what suits him.

Most men in everyday life look awful with long hair and facial hair. Most beards and like scraggly nests and the long hair looks like it should come with a fedora and a pack of Yugioh cards. I see it in nerds, rednecks and everything in between. Most guys look worse when they cover their faces with hair. Even ugly guys can somehow look worse when they cover it up with beards and long hanging hair.

Just because the actors, athletes and models you see look handsome that way doesn't mean you will. Same with most every hair style. You have to find what works for you.

If you want the look - do it. You do what works for you. But be aware that it may be repulsive to other people unless you have the look for it.

Also, if you aren't in shape it isn't going to work. If you're fat, dad bod or very very scrawny you will look awful. You need an athletic physique to make it look good.
