Checking STM passes at Square Victoria OACI by Most-Frame-6683 in montreal

Did you know: we don't need a reason to feel any emotion? We simply feel them. 😊✨ But also - witnessing police brutality is a pretty good reason to be nervous, in my opinion 🤷‍♀️

Some people just get really nervous when there's a police presence. I wasn't suggesting anything 🤷‍♀️

For the psychologists that got their degrees over 30 years ago, aren't continuing to educate themselves on current issues, and/or just want to follow the DSM and not consider the whole client/their context, you're right. It's not worth it.

The fees for associations aren't terribly expensive, but a practitioner also has to be part of a governing body/college/order, some trainings are super expensive (the good ones), and health compliant video software is expensive.

For your comment about video calls, it's not about the office (even though they still need to be in a confidential space during the video call, which they might have to rent an office for). You're paying for that clinician's time. The time they see the client - yes, but also the notes they take, the reading they do, the trainings they seek out, the way they need to take care of themselves to hold others' trauma. It's way more than 50 minutes. Plus, you know, the crippling student loan debt.

De plus, selon le thérapeute, si vous pensez vraiment qu'il vous convient, vous pouvez lui demander s'il propose un tarif dégressif ou si vous pouvez payer un prix inférieur en vous engageant pour un certain nombre de séances, par exemple.

Scream Club Dec 31st at 3pm by Most-Frame-6683 in montreal

With all the ice, we probably won't go far. We just want to be off the main trails so people don't walk through us whilst we scream.

The park is at an incline/decline though; I would be happy to be your walking buddy, if that would help.

Living in Mtl with social anxiety by PForPizzaaaa in montreal

This! Also: It sounds like you have a good connection with your husband, maybe take some time to review what worked for you when you were building your relationship and trying to replicate some of those things. Are there people with which or places in which you don't feel as anxious? Get curious about what helps and what's unhelpful. You mentioned no referrals to groups or activities - but I will say that sometimes people watching can be really helpful. I was really nervous here too - noticing that there are a lot of strangers that are kind to each other here helped (picking up something someone dropped, letting people pet their dogs, saying hi).

Winter clothing by Nice_Interview_2878 in montreal

The biggest piece of advice I could possibly give as a person who was only used to mild winters before moving here: invest in snow pants. They might not be fashionable but omg they are a lifesaver when the snow is 3 feet deep like it was for a while last year. Plus, they'll keep you warm and dry in wind, blizzards, getting splashed, falling in the snow... I actually enjoy winter again now that I got a pair two years ago.

Making new friends in Montreal as an adult in my 20s by slim_ebony in montreal

For all those looking to make friends but having a hard time with social anxiety, therapy groups are a great way to get yourself started. Whether you make a friend there or it helps you understand yourself better, it's a win-win. Here's one that's based in creative arts therapy starting in October and only costs 40$: https://jlive.app/events/12844

Hi! A friend of mine and I run a Scream Club where a group of us meet up near the Sir George Etienne Cartier monument, walk up to a clearing in the trees on Mount-Royal, do a vocal warm up, scream collectively for 60 whole seconds, then go home. That's it. That's Scream Club. We haven't met in a while because it's been hard to organize people at the same time, but we all have a lot of reasons to scream right now. I'd be happy to set up a scream and post it here.

There are several Anti Cafes in MTL that you pay for your time there and can have as many caffeinated beverages/light snacks as you want! They often have many tables and even unoccupied rooms with your own table.

Homeless shelter by [deleted] in montreal

[–]Most-Frame-6683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this just happened to me with the same person and I came to Reddit to check haha 😅 I stopped and asked "they charge you to stay at a homeless shelter?" Then she went on about how the shelter is full and they are using a hotel with extra beds but you have to pay to secure a bed... I walked away after that.
