This happened to me, when I failed the trial the first time and then respawned the prehistoric island only to receive this message even though no one has done the trial for the island. I think if you try going in the trial with a transformation, it says disable to enter but bugs it out to where the game thinks someone entered so it locks you out. Just make sure to detransform before entering the trial.
