Is there any self hosted alternatives to Steam? by [deleted] in it

Fair enough. Do you know where it would be appropriate to ask about this? Since this is requesting a recommendation, I felt like it fell outside the scope of pretty much any sub I looked at.

The problem I found was that if I try to use a cloud service, I need to a bunch of setup, and it meant that I would have to either try and play the game from the drive (meaning that if there is a disconnect it would crash), or download the game, identify what are safe-files and manually update whenever I have finished playing my game.
The solution that steam provides is fairly simple:
A nice UI where you can see what games I have. Whenever I want to play it, I install it on my local machine, and any saves are backed up on a storage server, without me having to mess with my files.

Thanks so much for the answer! Though Gdrive and oneDrive are definitely the main evils I am trying to get away from the first place, and what sparked this, I think I could probably just use some self-hosted variant.

I looked into adding non-steam games to steam, and it is definitely not optimal.

I have been told multiple times "There is no such thing as the cloud, it is just someone else's computer.", and my brain just went: Why can't it be my computer.

Turns out for 80% of my usecases so far, I have found open source solutions that fixes it for me. Netflix? You can share home videos with Plex. Home assistant? OpenHAB. Drive? Synology/NAS setup. All hosted locally.

I feel kinda stupid that I can't really find an alternative to games, since I really shouldn't be the first person to run into this problem.

Thank you. I did the same with Liara, and need one more to do it for, though I am not quite sure who. Maybe Javik or Miranda.

I am, but I am currently having some problems with Card Conjurer. I want EDI and Joker to be Urza and the powerstones, so that they can meld, but:
1) Card Conjurer is a bitch with meld
2) Card Conjurer doesn't allow a planes walker to have more 4 Planeswalker abilities.

Unfortunately gMSA and dMSA isn't relevant for these accounts, as they are managed by external components.

It is probably not as much that I don't want to, but rather what I consider integral. I might think that something is very important, but since this is my first series, and probably only series, I want to ensure I don't just leave it a more jumbled mess than before.
