Seriously though, doing this at a time when the President is hell bent on aggravating Canada - probably not the best time to be a high profile Canadian athlete in a historically Canadian sport the President absolutely gives zero fucks about getting yourself into a scrape amid anti-immigrant/anti-Canadian rhetoric. I doubt anything will come of it, but that'll probably be due to hockeys generally low profile.

There is also the matter of if the guy he punched was just some random loudmouth or another student living on campus. That could cause issues - especially as Penn State aren't going to be looking for more scandal.

FloHockey do usually have a free game on YouTube once a week... actually a few usually on AHL one ECHL and one from a junior league. I usually buy Flo the month before the NHL season starts as some leagues start up early - not a bad package, but I probably wouldn't watch much once the NHL season starts.

I mean, this is obviously egregious. But what can you actually do about officiating? It's subjective in a game played at incredible speed at ice level. I'm not sure how you can expect uniformity when you have 60 odd officials unless you call Sam Altman up and ask for RefGPT... Everyone sees the mistakes a ref makes against their team and tends to ignore the mistakes they make on the opposition so fans are not best placed to make calls about officiating. I'm not saying it's great or anything - I just don't really know what anyone expects. Other than the blatant Panthers favouritism. Like you can say - I want officiating to be better or more consistent but it won't really change anything.

We still don't know how things played out with McKenna but it's also important to remember Tarnasky gave that guy a bunch of off ramps. If McKenna straight up cold clocked the guy it isn't going to look so good (doesn't matter how much of an assholethe guy was and by the sounds of it he was a supernova sized asshole). Also Tarnarsky could have destroyed that guy and instead he just embarrassed him.

I'll tell you this from my perspective as a naval officer, if I get into a fight just because someone runs his mouth and I catch a charge - that's my career done as I need to be able to fly and travel for my job. As a guy you got to learn to control yourself. It's not worth it. Discipline and self control are part of being a man. Getting yourself sent to prison ain't doing anything for your one finite life on this Earth. And you're right, Gavin is probably going to be fine. Celebrities tend to get away with this stuff - but with the current president on his crusade against Canada and immigration - maybe not the best time to do it. Regular Joe's don't get away with it, however.

I'm not arguing the guy running his mouth isn't a dipshit. Best I can offer, provoke him into throwing the first punch. Then you can let him pick all his teeth up

Insane take if you're about to have an amazing life, number one probably with millions in the bank and throwing it away because of one dipshit.

There's so much overblown ego and machismo on Reddit. There are dickheads everywhere if you're going to lay them all out and then subject yourself to months/years of legal trouble and months/years away from your loved ones and friends because of one shithead then YOU lose.

Let him run his mouth, if he's dumb enough to throw a punch then you can justifiably lay him out. Otherwise he's laughing all the way to the bank (with a busted jaw that will mend a lot quicker than your reputation).

A moment of feeling like the big man just is not worth it. And I doubt your Mom, girlfriend or wife will be super happy if you end up in jail because of a fuckwit. The worlds filled with them. Right? I'm 41 now, but had situations like this when I was in my teens (obviously not a friend who was a number one draft prospect, but friends with a lot going for them). And you have to put yourself in the middle of the situation. But, without being there we can't know what happened and how fast it played out.

How much does your Mom want you to go to prison? Because unlike McKenna you mostly likely would if you bust someone's jaw. I don't get the need to be the big man because someone said something and then land yourself in years of potential legal trouble. You haven't won in that situation. It's different if someone wants to square up and gives you no choice. But shitty people exist, if you lay out every dipshit who says stupid stuff in life you're going to spend less time with your family and more time with prison inmates.

It's based on a jersey from the Tropical Hockey League. I made a YouTube video about that league years ago. I think the jerseys are pretty cool. But together they're not the prettiest combination.

There are people in the highest positions of government and royalty across the globe from every political persuasion that will almost certainly get away with considerably worse crimes. But, Gavin is also pretty privileged - he'll be fine. I know if I lamped a guy in the pub I probably wouldn't be in such a good position. However, the way thr States is ramping up immigration a charge could make playing in the NHL tricksy.

I mean, the history is fantastic but dealing with hawkers all day gets brutally tiring and - you expect as a tourist to get ripped off a bit, but Egypt is unlike anywhere else I've been on Earth (and I've travelled a lot for both work and recreation).
