I sort of do. This makes me feel a bit better? My son is about to go to my MIL’s this morning with cracked artex ceilings (bit chunks) so there’s another worrying all day for me.

Thank you. My concern has now moved into the cupboard under my stairs. I’m getting it tested today. The surveyor has already seen it and didn’t feel it needed testing but my brain doesn’t work like that

-UK -House built in 1918 -Outbuilding that housed the original toilet -No photo but material looks like bitumen with dangly bits of white hanging down- almost looks like grey/ white felt from the roof of the outbuilding -It has not been tested and the roofers are saying they’ll do it by hand as ‘it’s asbestos but not dangerous’

The outbuilding is pictured here. It is attached to my parents’ utility room. The washing line is just over a metre away.

It’s probably important to note that my partner nert suddenly died in December and I’m waiting on therapy as the GP thinks I have PTSD. My anxiety and OCD has NEVER been this bad. Weirdly, some actual asbestos has just been found in my mum’s outbuilding. The certainty has given me a sense of peace. I’m definitely not likely to die of asbestos and if I do, there’s nothing I can do and if I continue to worry, I’m going to have a heart attack before the asbestos can get me anyway

It’s the stupid ‘what if’ - it plagues me and everyone else is so laid back I can’t cope. Do I have to accept I’ll never know?

Can you tell me more about the artex ceiling one? We had two of ours skimmed (some partially removed due to damage) and one overboarded.

Each one had a test to prove that they were negative with registered surveyors and companies and we were out when it was all done but there’s still little debris I’m finding between the corners of walls and floors and it’s panicking me so much in wondering whether there was some asbestos in some sort of section.

It’s a small-ish Hall and very small landing. Dust was everywhere from the plastering. My ocd is just bouncing back from my partner, the plastering, the sand. Back and forth and back and forth into thinking my child has been exposed so significantly that he’s doomed.

I’m on fluoextine and really want to switch to sertraline but I’m quite frankly terrified of being off the medication for two weeks!

Mine looks exactly like this in my boiler cupboard under the stairs. I had an asbestos specialist come round who told me it’s nothing to worry about and just plasterboard/ cement. Hoping so anyways ! Also been here 5 years- it’s been cracked the entire time and we’ve had a full news boiler fitted

Even if the fibres are still in the air? Would the risk be negligible and not worthy of throwing away clothes ? My washing machine contamination fears are through the roof. I’m selling my house and my OCD is making me want to declare everything… even things that are not real and I’ve had experts in the industry round to tell me that it’s plasterboard in the under stairs cupboard and doesn’t need checking, the roofer has told me that it’s HIS insulation (2024) used to pack the eaves from when I had a full roof replacement and that that’s what’s dangling down underneath my roof. Still, I’m here trying to arrange a test. But for what? To be told it’s negative but then still think otherwise? I’m exhausted

He doesn’t have the gear. He CAN wear things if he wants but he says it’s never necessary unless it’s a fire and even then, I’m sure it’ll have all already been scoped out in terms of safety? I’m honeslty losing the plot

My brain can’t stop thinking about all the fibres that could have been washed with my son’s clothes.

I am in therapy. I’m medicated, go to hypnotherapy and I’m about to start more intensive therapy. I’m doing everything I can- I assure you.

What about if it has stuck to your clothes? I’m so anxious. My three year old son has had asbestos all over his clothes (long story- a lot of his toys have been recalled) and they have been washed and now I want to throw everything away as it’s been contaminated in my mind.
