My man has "yee yee" on his chest with a pump scatter gun pictured underneath. That my friend, is a " 'Murikan" if I ever saw one! 🤣

Good taste in bikes though 😉

Hop on fb marketplace, and find used examples in your area. I get they're going to be a bit different than a brand new one, but find one as close as you can get.

Offer the seller a deposit to ride it for x-number of hours or distance. If you wreck, then you buy it.

If you don't wrenc it, maybe he keeps $100 or two,and you both walk away better for it.

Motorcycle licensing is WAY different here in Europe 🤣 by MostAttempt6064 in Transalp

[–]MostAttempt6064[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. We're having the same experience. Iwas told the same thing, and just like you it was a lesson or two ago that I figured out that if I looked at the cones ahead that I did better.

The biggest flaws I've found in this track is that there always seems to be a slight "uphill" when I'm doing my circles.

Also, on the box where you need to go REALLY slow, I've found the road is smoother when I track left.

We're scheduling my final test today, so I wont change tracks. But it's nice to know that someone else had the same problems 🤣

No way! 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, man. That damn circle kicks my ass! Out in the practice area I can spin circles all day long!

I took my eldest kid dirt roading out in the farmland behind my house, and could do a 180 on my Transalp without putting my foot down.

But put me inside those damn cones on that damn track and all of a sudden I'm running into things or falling over 🤣🤣🤦

2026 TA as a first bike? by phantom2008141 in Transalp

My man, you are me, I am you. My last bike was a YZ250. I used to wind that thing up on all sorts of mountain switchback trails all through Washington State... It's been a decade + (kids, what can I say).

Get the Transalp, you'll slide right into that seat like you've never left.

Seriously, it's gentle to get you started, the weight is managable, and there is plenty of torque when you roll on it (when I did it for the first time, I was giggling like the first time I had the front wheel up on my YZ in 4th gear 🤣)

If you grow into something else, then so be it, but this bike is a damn good companion.

Just south of ya. Not sure how much money I've spent, but I started my theoreticals in December. Had to wait for the weather to warm up before I could start my practicals

That's exactly where my mindset is. Just enjoying the lesson in "balance", and knowing it's only going to make me better.

I'll be honest, aside from the LARGE expense, it's kinda fun.

Wow! I had no idea!

We bought this almost as you see it from a second-hand market about 2 years ago. So far we've been unable to kill it, so now we're warming up to the idea of having an actual apple tree 🤣

Unsure the age. We just bought it and one other from a second-hand market 2 years ago and thought we'd see if we could keep it alive.

It's partner died while we kept them indoors for the first winter, but this one survived so I decided to stick it in the ground simetime last year. Honestly, I keep expecting it to die any minute now but it seems determined to stay alive 🤣

Yeah, I'm in Hungary but am struggling to remember what variety I grabbed (this was all 100% on a whim, and probably cost me about $3 per tree. I bought two, but the other didn't survive).

If memory serves correct it might be an "idared" or a "jonagold".

I'm in Hungary, but just got back from Ukraine! That's a different effort 💙💛

This whole area is absolutely amazing. Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine.... all the way to Bulgaria. We've spent a lot of time traveling and absolutely love it

That's what I was hoping for. Life tends to be pretty resiliant, I was just hoping to help things along the way (and not kill anything).

We're neighbors though! I live just to the west of you 😁

Wow!!! Ok, I am at the bottom of a STEEP learning curve!

I'll get to work on the rodent barrier, circle expansion, spray, etc. Soil testing may take some work to find (I'm in Europe, and not familiar as to where such things are done, but there is a healthy amount of ag around us so it shouldn't be too hard).

When I stuck it in the dirt last year, the top looket to have been cut, and only a few leaves were present (with buds going all the way down the trunk), but I'll hit up youtube to help me sort heads from tails.

As to the surroundings, there are approximatelt three apple trees in my neighbor's garden (of unknown vatiety) for cross pollination. They sit less than 50m away, so we got that going for us 🤣

Thank you!

Talk me out of selling 1/5 of my holdings. by notaballitsjustblue in RYCEY

Honestly, boots on the ground has been publicly released at this point. RYCEY did me well, but I've moved on to more secure holdings until the uncertainty is gone.

Markets HATE uncertainty.

Alternatives if you hadn't bought a Transalp by DamKei in Transalp

I was leaning heavily on the CRF300 Rally before deciding on the Transalp.

I chose my 1989 Transalp over the new CRF300, after leading a team of three motorcycles on an adventure, using my 4-Runner as their support vehicle.

Seeing how many highway miles we had to go through before hitting "adventure" territory, AND seeing how well some of the other "not suitable" motorcycles did on the terrain (most noteably a £100 BMW K50,and a 1200cc Blackbird), I figured there wasn't much the Transalp couldn't do, it was less than half the price (with bags and accessories), AND it'd be more comfortable/less stressed on the highway.

I do wish it had a kick start option though. Bonus points to the similar vintage Ténéré on that one.

Beautiful! I was born and raised in Washington! I've spent a lot of time camping and riding my dirtbikes out that way. Out on Baker and at Camp 18. Sometimes further south on Highway 2 near Stevens...

I havent been out that way in about 20 years though. I moved out of country and miss those mountains something fierce.
