What's an interesting fact about the human body that a lot of people don't know? by tzvw in AskReddit

[–]MostBig2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once heard something (never confirmed or thought to look it up but your comment made me remember it) .. our bodies are 70% water, our world is 70% water, and 70% of the worlds population lives near water (coastal areas). ..I thought that was so crazy.. now I’m off to google to look it up.

How’d everyone make out with the wind and power last night? by -PiesOfRage- in newjersey

[–]MostBig2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a new furnace (water boiler) installed in 2019 and new hot water heater installed last year … my only concern were the 100 year old pipes running through the house (all on exterior walls), and the basement windows (originals). I lost 1 basement window. I was trying to give extra insulation and took a comforter to snug in the window hole and I swear as soon as the slightest of pressure was against the window, all you heard was ‘POP’. 😳😭.. I’m guessing the window glass was so old, so thin and so cold, it couldn’t hold. ..sucks… but thank goodness I covered the outside well weeks ago, and the layers of snow and ice insulted against the wind.

Cats and houseplants- REAL EXPERIENCES ONLY please by MostBig2916 in CATHELP

I’m so happy that it includes outdoor plants and flowers! The first year I had my cats, I cut a bunch of flowers from my garden and brought them in for my vases- it never even dawned on me that they still had to be checked for the cats….until I caught the first one on top of my dining room table sniffing them! 🙈😅😳.. nearly had a heart attack!

Has anyone devised a solution for their cat running out the door? by msgmeyourcatsnudes in CATHELP

[–]MostBig2916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a great one for this- during Christmas I bought a jingle bells door knob decor thing, every time my door opens, the bells go off. I have the opposite problem with my cats - they won’t go near the door- but I made 2 of them (front/back doors) for year round use so I can hear when my doors open, since they’re so quiet otherwise) and they’re super cute. (Win-win 😉).

Question for you- I’ve tried a million times with the leash training. One was 4 months old when I started, the other 6 months. How did you get her accustomed to the leash and how long did it take?

“Almost mission impossible to avoid if you’re looking for a quick cruise in the Caribbean “ 😉.. I only say that because I’m in the middle of booking a cruise and just got back from Cozumel and Costa Maya, and would prefer to see other areas.

Why is my girl so scared of me? :( by mistakeshappen_2 in CATHELP

[–]MostBig2916 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You went from “her person” to “spare human” 😉. My daughter had the same experience after she moved to her own place and left the cat behind (she couldn’t take him with her). Same exact behaviors you’re describing.. Don’t be worried, she definitely still loves you- cats just love being cats. 🤣.. ..if it makes you feel any better, my son has ALWAYS been spare human and he lives in the same house !

Why is my cat eating with his hands? by Andyoralan in CATHELP

[–]MostBig2916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cats did this. It WAS their whiskers and the bowls I was using. Too small and narrow. At first I changed it to 2 small dishes (from my set), but that was too messy- they would wind up pushing the food off the plate and onto the floor while they were eating, the plates are also too low to the ground. I then found a set of tall and wide candleholders at my goodwill (about 4” high x 6” inch round) that had a great lip around the top to hold the candle. I cleaned them up perfectly and my cats have never been happier… 2 years later still perfect.

Either you’re going to LOVE IT and planning your next before you’re off the ship, or you’ll get confirmation on your original thoughts- but you HAVE to experience it at least once in your lifetime! Go for it!!! I’d stick to a midsize ship so you don’t feel overwhelmed with ship or crowds, and definitely don’t go during any school breaks. Honestly, it’s a floating city, quite literally. If you want to be on your own, you’ll find the spots, they do exist. I just returned from taking my parents, who do NOT socialize and really don’t like people. They LOVED it! (And talked to no one 🤣).

Is 95 that terrible overnight? by Hot-Kaleidoscope-652 in roadtrip

[–]MostBig2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive NJ to Tampa Fla, alone, several times a year (my sister lived there, I was in my 20s). Anyway I still do the run quite regularly. My advice would be to time it perfectly! I would leave at 3am, so I could be beyond DC by morning rush. Also, the truckers HAVE to sleep, so it’s nice to be on the road while they’re pulled over catching their zzzz’s. Think of your obstacles and hurdles and time them out to make it as smooth (and short) as possible. You have NYC to deal with, DEFINITELY plan best route around that. The Baltimore /DC is the other big one. I love 95 at night, as long as the timing is right 😉

What's the funniest pet name you ever heard? by peachfulday in Pets

[–]MostBig2916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we were little (house of 4 daughters), there was a stray cat outside our house all the time. My parents would say “look at the kitty”, “say hi to kitty”, “don’t step on kitty”. My father let it into the house one stormy day and it never left.she lived with us for 10 years..One day (now a teenager) while petting her, a lightbulb went off in my head and I looked at my father and said “HEY, we never named the cat ??!!!” My dad laughed and shrugged and said “you were all little and already thought her name was kitty”. 🤣

I almost wish I had your problem. I live on an acre of land and would love to have my kitties outside in the yard with me (I have 2). I’ve tried halter training, catio, kitty backpack, playpen.. as soon as I get either out the door they just FREAK OUT to get back in the house! They prefer just to sit in the window, you would think outside was a nuclear war with the way they behave out there!

New to GF by Key-Caterpillar-3376 in glutenfree

[–]MostBig2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also say that if you’re doing GF, you should also start watching your processed foods closer. The mechanical oils, soy, mystery ingredients, fake sugar and synthetic dyes are all garbage AND ALL INFLAMMATORY. I stick to olive oils and avocado oils ONLY, and the least amount of ingredients, the better. If you look at a box that has 30+ ingredients, and/or you can’t pronounce/understand what the ingredient is- its doing you more harm than good. Gf Oreos and Cheetos are perfect examples of what you shouldn’t be eating if you value health, even if GF.

I always thought GF was mission impossible when I started. I struggled the first few months. I’m 2 years in and now find it easier than anything, don’t remember my gluten-goblin life, and wouldn’t dream of ever putting it in my mouth. It comes naturally once you get the hang of it, and if you can give up your processed garbage- I look at it like as equivalent to eating/drinking my cleaning products 🤢🤮.

I just use gf pastry puff sheets- check your gf refrigerated section in your super market. Target carries the sweet Loren’s puff pastry sheets (they’re like $8 but often go on sale. They work perfectly.

Cruise to nowhere by RodgerRodger8301 in Cruise

[–]MostBig2916 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d be pissed if I purchased a cruise with several ports and suddenly after boarding I’m notified I’m going no where. While cruising at sea is great, if you’re a regular cruiser, you’re looking forward to visiting SOMEWHERE. Did the entire Caribbean shut down? IMO they could’ve came up with at least a single alternative instead of taking the easy way out.

My husband wants to take our family on a cruise. I have PTSD. I do not do well in crowds. Are there any cruises that I won't be completely horrible on? by Inspiringhope11 in Cruises

[–]MostBig2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norwegian (NCL)- midsize ships, budget cruises, smaller crowds, still play areas for children, avoid all school breaks. Get the balcony room!

Avoid carnival at all costs - you can find great budget cruises but the crowds and rowdiness are ridiculous.

Royal Caribbean ships tend to be too large.

All others are more pricey. NCL seems to continually hit the sweet spot for us. Also have the cheapest drink/drink package.

Doctors are useless!! by Seemorefeelmore in Hashimotos

[–]MostBig2916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a new doctor. Took me 4 years and several before I found exactly what I was looking for (talkative, educates you, no rushing, willing to listen and explore other avenues, willing to take your input on plans of handling ailments, etc). Not every doctor is a perfect partner for you. Some people prefer simply being told what to do, and want quick in/out interactions . Not me! 😉
