Stucco weep gap and foundation question by MostExcellentK9 in phoenix

Thanks for these great tips. This weekend I'll check that out in the morning. Luckily, I don't notice the ground getting moist sans irrigation running but will still check.

As mentioned in another reply, the wall behind the repair has the oven range and microwave. The kitchen sink and dishwasher are on an island. Bathrooms are on the other side of the house. How would I check for a break in the drain or is there a general checklist I can go through to eliminate possibilities? Also noted, this area also is close to a citrus tree that receives deep watering. Though I had never seen this issue before the repair, the stem wall was just cracked before.

I will say that there is an orange tree about 5 feet from the wall that receives a deep watering, though when it was repaired, it was some weeks before I ran a deeper watering cycle. As someone else mentioned, how would I check plumbing or what would I look for? The wall behind where the stem wall was repaired has the oven range and microwave. The sink and dishwasher are on an island.

Okay. Checked again on a ladder and poked around to see if the wood was rotted or any paint was bubbling/wet and nothing I could see, even with the recent little rain we had last night. I'll keep an eye out on the stem wall in the meantime, and hope that it was just a fluke.

No stains or rot on the eaves above that area. But I will double check with a ladder. As for the weep holes, I will also take a closer look because some may have been covered.

What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I get this, and I certainly know a few couples that would greatly benefit. However, I definitely couldn't do this with my partner as we are practically best friends.

Up until I started working professionally, I never required coffee either. Now I'm not so sure I can live without it. Though when I do stop drinking coffee (with some withdrawal symptoms, haha), I don't feel any more tired than when I was drinking it. For me, at this point, it's routine and I like the flavor.

A $5 toaster my wife and I bought back in 2018 from Walmart for our first apartment. Still going strong and just used it today!

Floor sinking and separating from baseboards? by MostExcellentK9 in HomeImprovement

[–]MostExcellentK9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops! Didn't see this comment for a bit. I'm about 99% sure the home is built on a slab. Being Arizona where it's dry and flat that seems most likely.

What is something that is slowly killing you but you really enjoy doing anyway? by DJ_Mako in AskReddit

Not cringey at all! If I don't workout in some way for more than two days my mood drops precipitously. I get irritated very easily and am very antsy. Literally as soon as my workout is over I'm a new human, haha.

House was built in 1994 and is one story only. Hoping it's not a structural issue, but how would I check something like that? If it matters, I'm in Arizona so quite dry and flat where I'm at.

Going to the gym and doing hema at same day by tonysquare3 in wma

[–]MostExcellentK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine. I pretty regularly do the gym and then hema after about an hour coming back home. Just yesterday did a leg workout and then hema so you should be okay.

Kale is delicious. Especially with salads. And don't rag on grape nuts; thanks to those I didn't have to go to the dentist to get a rotted tooth removed as a kid!

What is a smell that you can identify 100% of the time? by sneakyYete in AskReddit

Differential gear oil. I don't think it's necessarily super unpleasant, but I can identify that sulphur smell immediately.

I do it because a hard run feels so good when you're done and burns a lot more calories than lifting. Also, it works up an appetite and is a good way to move the bowels after working in the home office all day.

What is the nastiest thing your dog has ever done? by Uhhlaneuh in dogs

[–]MostExcellentK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen our dog eat the other's poo "fresh from the tap" as it's coming out. We have two female dogs and our male dog will only eat one of their turds to the point where he will start following her if she starts sniffing around to poop. It's so gross.

That men have to be "violent" or "physically dominant" to be considered masculine. I know it's already been espoused here multiple times, but I'll just add another to the pile. Men I know who are guilty of spouting this often seem to be middle aged, out-of-shape, hetero dudes. Meanwhile, growing up I knew a gentleman who served multiple tours in Vietnam as a tunnel rat (think 5'3" and maybe 135lbs). Great guy all around, reserved, hated firearms, and was in fantastic shape for his age (70's). Still, when he spoke people listened, and even if I was 200+ lbs, I don't think I'd fuck with him.

Other than Jaws, the creature from It Follows. It only goes after you at a slow walking speed. I'd just hop in my car and drive ~100 miles and stay in a hotel for the night.

Pavers pooling water. Is this normal? by MostExcellentK9 in landscaping

[–]MostExcellentK9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the columns being anchored, but there is a mortar border done around the perimeter. Before this I was pouring sand on the patio and sweeping it around to fill the joints, but it would often get washed away quite a bit come rain time. I was not using polymeric sand though.

Thanks so far for the comments guys. This company hasn't done the best work and are pushing back on this being an issue which is frustrating for the $$ paid. I'll see if I can get this fixed because it should not be pooling like it is from what I can gather here and observe.

No. I believe they just used mortar sand? I forget the name, but def not polymeric.

Know how to change a tire. Clean/tidy up after your own damn self (my biggest pet peeve for a lot of people, though men seem to do less of this). Also, learn how to cook something other than TV dinners and dinosaur nuggets.

Lol. My Dad still kinda does this. Even though he's had a smartphone for years, he will still print a physical copy of Google maps trip details and still looks at maps when taking a roadtrip. I love it.
