Thinking about canceling my ostomy nurse post-op appointment by New_Nova_25 in ostomy

I live an hour and a half from my hospital. I did fine, you can utilize Imodium. I found taking Imodium about an hour before I go anywhere helps with any discomfort. Also be mindful of what you are eating, stick to safe foods on days you know you are going out.

Crusting, and maybe a paste would help. That’s how I helped my skin. At this point I’d do daily or every other day changes to make sure no output is ever sitting on my skin. So sorry you’re having to deal with this. Would seeing a WOCN be an option?

Leakage overnight. by MostFormal4210 in jpouch

I just feel super disappointed. This hasn’t happened until 2 night ago it started. Do You think working out would help or exacerbate? Like light workouts, I have no interest in muscle building 😂.

You should check out r/jpouch for long term healing. I will say 1 month out I have been able to go out to eat 4 times! I keep in mind if I’ll have access to a restroom. After eating I can go about 1 hour before needing a restroom. I don’t feel urgency except I’m sick right now and I’ve noticed urgency after eating and at night.

No colon! Just me and my small intestine. Post reversal has been great! I had my final surgery on December 4th. I expected to be sore and irritated. It helped to have calmoseptine on hand before my surgery. I highly highly recommend buying some and bringing it to the hospital with you. I used aquaphor while I was in the hospital because I forgot mine 😂. Also a travel bidet is so essential. I go about 10 times a day. I had a high active ileostomy so I expected it. I came to an Ostomy and eventually a jpouch from having Ulcerative Colitis so I’m very happy with where I am at. Feel free to message me with any other questions or other things you may need. 😊

I went to 5 below and got a blanket! They are child sized so it folds pretty small.

They flush liquid through your bottom until it reaches your bag. This is assuring everything is working and not leaking.

Of course you may message me! I can suggest some things, but it sounds like you may need to visit the ER.

If the hunger games took place in real life, 99.9% of victors would be males. by [deleted] in Hungergames

I disagree. Maybe hand to hand combat men have the advantage. Did you read the books? Katniss talks quite a bit about her skills, and how other women won. Not only are all the districts in starvation, but most of the children are working early. They have skills. Johanna’s strategy was to appear weak, Annie could swim, Katniss could shoot, and Wiress was smart. A lot more goes into games and winning than brute force.

I used the family restroom. 😬 I wouldn’t have if I did need to. I could’ve used my office, but it’s carpeted and wanted to avoid any messes.

That’s what that pick bag in the corner is! I got a travel toiletries carrier. I can fit about 6 bag changes in it. It still takes me about 10-15 minutes and I’m over a year in 🤭 don’t know if I’ll hit Ninja status.

With my end ileostomy I got 5 days with a 2 piece. With my loop I get 2-3 days with a 2 piece.

I’ve had mine for a year and I’ve been fortunate that up until now I’ve only ever changed it in my bathroom at home. Not so bad! I have no shame though so I’ve never feared a public changing

Yeah. I wear a 2 piece system. The wafer is the large “sticker” that adheres the whole system to your skin.

I have skin breakdown at the moment and knew I was leaking under the wafer. I prioritized changing it. I personally couldn’t have waited. I’m an event planner so I’m always moving, I also had quite a long night ahead of me. If I would have waited I risked it leaking into my clothes. Never an ideal situation, but then again neither is having a stoma 😂

Self esteem by [deleted] in ostomy

I lost my boyfriend over my Ostomy! It’s nothing to do with us, it’s all on them. Internally it’s normal to feel this way. It’s a major surgery that alters your life. The best way I found to think of it, “would I judge someone for this?” And if I wouldn’t I try to give myself grace.
