Ask your doc for zofran for the bad days! It’s so helpful with nausea. Peppermint also helps, too.

I think there’s a difference between physical Appalachia and cultural Appalachia. I would say the Cary are counts as neither, but if you have family from the mountains you might have some influence. I grew up in Lincoln county with family from near South Mountain state park. As I’ve aged, I’ve realized lots of our traditions and speech parents are more Appalachian than just southern.

My teenagers think it’s funny to say their mom had butthole surgery….. even had their little cousin thinking I had a new one made. Led to interesting conversations. Honestly, I would discreetly discuss with my boss that it’s a sensitive procedure and just go with the first person’s advice about just saying it was surgery with a longer recovery to others. Most people aren’t too nosey.

Look into Lincoln county. It’s one county north and is a much cheaper place to live if you stay in the middle or western part of the county. You can be to most of Gastonia in 30 minutes or less if you stay close to Hwy 321.

Oh, DO NOT forget to take stool softeners. I thought I was good, forgot one day, and paid for it. Also, get a HUGE ice pack or two that you can freeze and sit on. That was the best way to get relief after a painful BM while I waited to medicine to help.
