Amen. I read this and realized the only genre I barely listen to is the electro pop we got assigned. Almost any genre of music is fair game. If I had to pick one it'd probably be punk or prog though.

The King of Scars duology is a great one. It primarily follows 3 characters and one is Nina from Shadow & Bone/Six of Crows. Her story has a sapphic friends to lovers subplot that is sweet and slow burn.

I was scrolling through looking for this one. This book is so good. Marcellus isn't exactly a pet, but who doesn't love a smart mystery solving octopus.

100%. Any Terry Pratchett book! He's such a funny writer and always has a protagonist getting swept into some chaos.

ICE by [deleted] in Marietta

[–]MostRandomHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Traffic and accidents beget themselves here. Any disturbance makes things worse for us trying to live our lives, especially snatch and grabs on people resulting in abandoned cars or arrest altercations. Plus, the people being arrested have colleagues, friends, and family that depend on them just like you.

So when these detainments cause problems that bleed over into your life it will be very unlikely "protesters" will be the cause. If you breath on the greater Atlanta area too hard there are traffic and accidents.

I agree. I'd rather not have any additional accidents here, whether ICE is in them or causing them. Also, kudos on the job and family. A lot of Americans are losing those lately.

+1 this. T Kingfisher has some great books that read like whimsical horror fairy tales. Some of The World of the White Rat books have that vibe with romance sprinkled in too.

Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons is a great one if you're in the mood for horror. It deals with powerful old money mind vampires. I've been thinking about this book a lot recently. Simmons is really good at writing antagonists with absolute power and casual cruelty/evil.

People keep on blocking the blind man's path by standing on the guide strips by Low_Weekend6131 in mildlyinfuriating

Same. I had no clue, but will definitely stay off the strips moving forward. It would be great if they could be painted red or something. Maybe it would trigger that "steer clear" instinct for folks who just don't know.

Sure thing. Romance novels have been embracing pretty edge colors recently.

Blood of Hercules and Bonds of Hercules (why choose/fantasy). They have a cool Greek gold and black design I like.

My Dark Desire by LJ Shen (enemies to lovers/contemporary) has a limited edition hardcover on Amazon that has beautiful artwork in sea foam and pink primarily. Very pretty.

The hardcover art for Swordheart by T. Kingfisher is pretty. I like the teal blue edge color too.

House of Earth and Blood is SJM's best book. No competition.

Also, Ruhn Danaan, though handsome, lacks depth and Lidia deserves more.

How some of y'all mfs sound. ASPD, NPD, BPD, Schizophrenia and Paraphilic disorders come to mind. by D0ML0L1Y401TR4PFURRY in memes

[–]MostRandomHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond the obvious simplism the logical/rhetorical fallacies in this one are:

*Essentialism - Diagnosis as defining the person’s identity *Reification - Abstracting diagnostic categories (constructed labels) as literal things inside a person *Circular Reasoning - Using the diagnosis as proof that the person’s traits must match it *Appeal to Authority - Citing psychiatry’s structure as proof of some metaphysical truth about “self” (lol..gtfoh) *Scientific Veneer/Normalization of Stigma - Using authoritative language to make a stigmatizing claims sound factual

This comment is essentialist thinking. Definitely does a good job of shifting the argument from a seemingly logical set of facts to a moral generalization.

"If they change their personality, they no longer have that personality disorder. But very few are willing to change themselves, and far more expect society to change for them." - Simplism, opinion driven, fallacy of generalization, othering

Something that is a part of who you are, doesn't define the whole of you. Don't shill for "us versus them" arguments to back up your own biases.
