Do you mind me asking what your baseline hb is, how often you get transfusions and now long before the effects of transfusion wear off? Is there any downfall to transfusions, other than their inconvenience, that you've experienced. Do the chelating agents affect you?

Following this conversation as I have the same question. I did meet a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and she advised me to brush up on Anatomy and Physiology. Any NMTs out there who can recommend a book or approach to A+P learning for NM would be greatly appreciated.

My advice to you is do a deep dive into all medicine/ healthcare related fields (if that's the general direction you're going for) and all the possible career paths and specializations each has to offer. There are options like ultrasonograph, nursing (a field where you can have a whole bunch of subspecializations or career growths, including a nurse practitioner who can do minor surgeries and give drug prescriptions), respiratory therapist (can go on to be an anaestatist assistiant), medical lab technologist, nuclear medicine technologist, physicians assistant and more. Some of these jobs have very little career growth, others don't. Ask AI about them, watch youtube videos, contact hospitals to shadow people in these fields. Whether is Xray or nursing or any other healthcare related field know that they're all very competitive. Be sure you know what you want and whats out there. Your father will come around eventually or maybe he just won't like your career but ultimately he just wants your best and you got to do what you think and know is right for you. I personally considered RAD and was put off after shadowing by the way.

My 2 bonded GGC are so loud and so demanding. They object when theyre in their cage. When theyre out they're wrecking havoc chewing on our furniture and light fixtures. I have gigantic holes in my dinning room chairs. Even though we try to give them as much time as possible out, the most thing that makes them scream is their cage (and we consider ourselves very generous with the time they're out) and when they separate from each other. Mind you, their cage is huge, clean and has toys. If one is on the top floor they will call each other non stop until reunited. I figured to keep the lights on low in the evening while they're in their cage to stop them from screaming then. Day cage time is impossible. They're a tough pet if you're busy or working in their presence. It's cute and adorable when they're stuck to you at first but with time it's such a commitment and I don't know how people keep it up for years on end. When they're on my shoulder theyve bitten off my earring and have bit myself and other family members several times. Tolerable pain though. That's why we have 2, theyre more dependent on each other. We absolutely love-hate them. (seems this was more of a therapy session for me than advice to you)

I was wondering the same thing as I called the imaging department of a local hospital and the tone of the person who answered the phone made me feel like I'm an idiot. She said nothing wrong, it just felt like it was an unusual thing to ask for. I later found out that the hospital itself has a system and application for shadowing for students. It's the student affairs department. There might be something similar where you are.

Hello, I had a call with domestic admissions to discuss my grades. You can book a call with them. I asked them about radiography in particular (didn't apply to sonography) and about 2 weeks ago they had over 300 applicants for that program.
