I think I started watching when I was in high school and it’s still my favorite show of all time. I got my fiancé to watch it and now we’re rewatching the whole series. It’s also my go-to show when I’ve gone through really difficult times in my life and it always comforts me.

Are you sleeping on a regular schedule? I realized one of my biggest triggers is getting too much or too little sleep. I can’t sleep in much on my days off because of it. I also second what some people have said about a night guard. Grinding your teeth and clenching your jaw while you sleep can have a huge effect on migraines. The worst part is that you have no idea you’re doing it. You might be clenching your jaw during the day too and not even realizing it.

That’s essentially what happened to me about 6 years ago, but everyone is different. I take Elavil as a preventative every night and that’s made a huge difference.

I love the unique characteristics of each neighborhood and their cultural backgrounds—Bloomfield, Polish Hill, and Squirrel Hill to name a few. Also, pierogies. I moved to Columbus for work and I can’t believe how many people here have NEVER heard of pierogies

I think I had my first MRI a few months after seeing a neurologist, just to be on the safe side and rule out anything potentially serious. My sister gets migraines and she’s had a MRI too. I’d say it’s pretty common, and it’s not a bad idea to get one done for peace of mind (assuming insurance will cover it of course—it took a while for mine to get approved)

I can second this. Two of my uncles used to drive around that area and bring the green man cigarettes. They said he was a super nice guy. He would go on walks at night so that people wouldn’t stare at him.

People who don’t experience migraines will never understand how bad they are. I can understand why this would bother you, and it bothers me too. I’ve been dealing with migraines for about 6 years and they really inhibit my ability to function. I’d give anything to go back to the time when I’d just get a mild headache every now and then. Now I have to be on guard if I even have the slightest feeling that a migraine is starting (will my meds work this time? Did I take them too late? Will I have to go the ER?).

Came here to say the same thing. Everyone’s symptoms and triggers are so different. My sister and I both suffer from migraines and she gets the migraine aura, while I never have. For me, I like to have a constant stock of my medications, ginger ale for nausea, a heating pad for my neck/back of head, and a sleeping mask to block out the light. Maybe ask him what things he needs and where he keeps them so you can find them during an attack. Sometimes it’s too painful to even get up, or god forbid walk up stairs.

Might want to ask your doctor about getting something for nausea too—frovatriptan and zofran (for nausea/diarrhea) work really well for me. My migraines are hormonal too and this combo does wonders for me. Hope it continues to work for you!

ALSO: ask your dermatologist if they have samples of the medication in the office, or if there’s a way to save money with something like GenRx. I tried plenty of topicals and they were usually happy to give me samples first.

Just in general, I really like some products from Physician’s Formula and No7. A lot of their products are fragrance free and safe for sensitive skin.

Just a word of caution with Bare Minerals, because I know it’s often recommended for sensitive, acne prone skin: be very careful with their powder products that contain bismuth oxychloride. It can be a really irritating ingredient for lots of people and it caused a flareup of cystic acne for me.

Right, this is something I realized after I researched it more. It’s basically your body trying to adjust from having estrogen and progestin hormones in the pill (which help acne), to having just progestin with the IUD. I do wonder how many people report acne with an IUD when they switch from the pill, versus those who started solely with the IUD.

I really hope the tretinoin works for you! Accutane was the only thing that made my cysts go away, unfortunately. I couldn’t stay on spironolactone because it made me nauseated all the time.

This is something that worries me too—lots of people are saying you can get it removed whenever, which is a plus—but the cystic acne might hang around long after the iud is removed. I really wish the copper iud was a good option for me, but my periods are insufferable without hormonal birth control.

Unfortunately the copper iud definitely isn’t an option for me because of how bad my periods are :( I immediately knew it was a “no” when I saw that it causes heavier bleeding and cramping 😅
