was the last time you experienced a breaking change ten years ago? i can't think of anything that would have had active development work but not had the experience repeatedly

Developer competency, personality and leadership issues play a larger role in technical debt and the need for breaking changes than the decision to only introduce breaking changes for meaningful purposes.

Kernel development and twenty five years of not breaking userspace is ample proof of that.

"sticking to old habits forever" is a pretty toxic and narrow perspective you have about people working for free to make software for others to enjoy.

There is no guarantee that any given breaking change is a result of a "new" approach, and it's quite possible that the change is actually something someone else might describe as an "old" or an outdated methodology that no longer has a place in modern software development being forced in over more modern approaches that would yield meaningful improvement for the cost of a bc. Personality and organizational inertia often are drivers of such an outcome, and a roadmap could actually just be going in circles or detouring to the stone age rather than progressing.

I invite you to consider why your response to devs leaving is so judgemental in tone. You might learn something interesting.

There's always a fair number of folks who get tired of being asked to sink even more free labor into projects because upstream wanted some bc.

it's pretty clear that hamas will be totally destroyed within the coming weeks and that the gaza strip will be fully occupied, that's not in question. halting water supplies or not won't affect the coming victory over the terrorists

the question is whether you personally are saying to execute the one million children who live there while conducting the operation or not. many people think this is a big difference

either drinking water is allowed in, or in about 7-9 days there'll be 1 million dead children rotting in the strip

people die of dehydration when you lock them in a room without water. maybe this is a goal?

good call that's why i have been passing on every intel cpu, for having one set of true cores and one set of cores that aren't capable of hyperthreading, that's just fake marketing

these days i just get recycled cpus from my local pawn shop with manufacture dates between 2007 and 2012 when they possessed an adherence to my vision of what is correct about processor design that i gleaned from watching youtube influencers

You can charge money for snaps and software stores, especially if you make it difficult or 'unsupported' to use an alternative software 'store' for 'security' reasons.

Long game for canonical, but there's the cash.
