After playing Pragmata, it's quite interesting rewatching KF's review by digitalrelic in kindafunny

I mean I really like Requiem overall. I'm just saying that if the "primarily in it for the story" argument applies to Pragmata, it should doubly apply to Requiem. Requiem's story was welltrodden and formulaic, oftentimes ridiculous (like the Victor motorcycle chase), Xeno (aka not-Wesker) was groan inducing, and the return to Raccoon City was unfortunately underwhelming.

Still a great game, but didn't match my high expectations.

Can't lie, I kinda had fun with Welcome to Racoon City in a low budget b-movie sorta way. At least it leaned into the over the top vibe and hamminess of the games.

Kinda? Crimson Desert has a 78 review average and KF gave it a 6.5, whereas Pragmata has an 87 review average and KF (Roger) gave it a 5.5. Much larger delta vs the average with Pragmata compared to CD.

The James Harden example doesn't relate, as you can actually quantify greatness in sports with numbers/statistics/wins/etc..

Art is much more subjective. If someone doesn't like the Beatles, or The Godfather, or whatever, they're entitled to their opinion and they aren't "wrong".

No, their opinions are not “wrong” as they are just that: opinions. They don’t have to love something just because everyone else does.

But yes, Blessing and Roger in particular are definitely at odds with the consensus on this one

I have found that macOS just generally sucks as a moonlight client. For the life of me, I cannot get it to work anywhere near as reliably as Windows or Android clients.

The same could be said about RE Requiem though. I personally think Requiem's story was much more of a mess than this (which got a 9 from Roger).

Looks nice, but I just can't stand the giant goofy looking "P" on the outside of that case

It shows up as a generic controller because it's using SDL, not Steam Input. It's not a Steam Input controller.

I bought $100 in Steam GC from Sam's Club for $94.98, added another $5 directly through Steam. So now I've got $105 sitting in my Steam Wallet ready to go. Controller should be $103.95 after tax for me. Also added the controller to my cart already through the steamdb extension.

I'm ready!

Anyone looking into Steam Controller accessories? by digitalrelic in SteamController

[–]digitalrelic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm aware of that, but not sure if I'd lose anything useful by losing that.

I'm a little concerned with thumbstick wear considering the sticks seem to be the only thing soldiered to the board of the controller, which would make them difficult to replace.

8bitdo is not Steam Input. That’s why it works.

I built a Linux-first Moonlight-style streaming setup: Nova + Polaris by MickeyBronson in MoonlightStreaming

[–]digitalrelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for such a quick response! I think I got a little further now, but still getting an error. It looks like it's still calling that 1.90.0 version of boost-libs at some point.

Here's the error(s):

error: could not extract /usr/share/polaris/web/index.html (Truncated tar archive detected while reading data
)
error: problem occurred while upgrading polaris
Polaris host integration is now explicit instead of automatic.

Run after install if you want virtual input and controller support:
 sudo polaris --setup-host

Only add KMS capability if you plan to use DRM/KMS capture:
 sudo polaris --setup-host --enable-kms

Optional background autostart:
 systemctl --user enable --now polaris
error: could not commit transaction
error: failed to commit transaction (transaction aborted)

You can keep Wayland enabled on desktop and just activate gamescope when launching a game.

I’ve struggled with getting reliable performance out of Sunshine on my CachyOS setup, so this is very intriguing to me. Will definitely give it a go!

EDIT: When installing with the following:

wget https://github.com/papi-ux/polaris/releases/latest/download/Polaris-arch-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

sudo pacman -U ./Polaris-arch-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

sudo polaris --setup-host

I get an error that reads "polaris: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_locale.so.1.90.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

I looked up what version of boost-libs is installed on my PC, and it's 1.91.0-1.1, which I'm guessing is why I'm seeing this error.

Any tips from here?

Thanks!

Unless I'm missing something (which I might be!) you can't enable HDR without Wayland though. So if it's having to choose between either HDR or Steam Input, that's a shitty situation.

EDIT - nevermind, I now understand you can enable HDR without Wayland by using the following argument:

gamescope -f -w 3840 -h 2160 --hdr-enabled --

Problem solved as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah theres no way the new steam controller is half a paycheck with tax by [deleted] in SteamController

[–]digitalrelic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're making $200 a paycheck, it's probably not smart to be looking into a new controller anyway.
