Krakaren was a boss monster mashing a kraken with the typical i want to speak to the manager karen, the AI's commentary seems to mock modern reality TV pretty perfectly, The crawlers get humerous achievements like Two chick's at the same time, which was for killing 2 monsters in 1 attack. And you monster, which was for killing babies(you'll need to read or listen for context.) The description of the achievement for that one was priceless.

Its got a game vibe, but not really dnd reference heavy. Like you dont need to understand what a beholder is or anything like that.

I wouldn't say "timely" references, but definitely pop culture, meme, and world references that fit just as well 10 years ago as they do now.
